8 years ago, where it all began. In Shilan, Philippines, a small farming community in Benguet outside of Baguio City, a greenhouse was built over Skype. 😆 With the help of our farming friends whom we had known since we were married, they prepared for our arrival. We moved our family overseas for several months to launch Highland Aquaponics and change how farming was done. It was a family affair that put us on a wildly different path than we had gone before.

The creativity and the ingenuity of the Filipino people were our strengths as we learned how to do aquaponics third-world style. It was amazing, challenging, draining, and so rewarding all at the same time. Without this season, Vertical Roots Canada never would have existed or been what it is today.
