My name is Sayid Ahmed. I am a family man, an Economist, Alberta Government employee, grass-roots community organizer, a volunteer and a proud conservative. I grew up in Somalia, Africa, where I lived much of my life in an abject poverty, civil war and famine, but I never doubted my ability to make life better for myself and others. My parents instilled in me the importance of personal and social

For years, Alberta was told to slow down investing and producing oil and gas, scale back, and accept limits imposed from Liberal government in Ottawa.
Instead, the UCP government has kept advocating, negotiating, and pushing for what many Canadians knew was right.
Now, thanks to Premier Smith’s diplomatic approach, the oil and gas production cap is lifted, capacity is expanding, and the results are undeniable.
A pipeline like this with a new capacity of 500,000 barrels per day isn’t just a number. It’s jobs, revenue, investment, and long-term stability. It means more opportunity across the province, from workers on the ground to families benefiting from a stronger economy.
This is what real economic policy looks like - measurable, scalable, and impossible to ignore.
Turns out, staying the course wasn’t stubborn - it was correct.
The numbers don’t lie. Alberta isn’t slowing down - it’s accelerating.
Success isn’t built in big moments.
It’s built in small, consistent actions no one sees.
Stay disciplined.

Alberta isn’t just growing - it’s still one of the best places in Canada to actually get ahead.
• Highest earnings in Canada
• Strong job growth
• Real opportunities across several sectors like construction, and oil and gas
This is what it means to build an economy that works for people, where hard work actually leads somewhere.
Is there more to do? Always. But the direction matters. And right now, Alberta is moving forward.
That’s real opportunity. Right here at home.
Proud to be Albertan. Proud to call Alberta my adopted home.
Very proud of this work.
This is what happens when you challenge the status quo!
$54M down to $2.4M - built in-house.
Smarter. Faster. Cheaper.
All under the great leadership of Premier Smith and her Cabinet.

Here is slightly more depth cut that shows the progress trajectory. What I love about data is that it tells the true story.
It’s clear that across Alberta, more surgeries (Cataract, Hip, Knee, Cancer) are being completed and thank goodness more people are getting care within recommended timelines.
That means shorter waits, better outcomes, and real progress for families who need the system to work.
Is everything fixed? No.
But this is exactly how the UCP government is stabilizing our healthcare system:
âś…Build capacity
âś… Improve flow
âś… Deliver results people can actually feel
For sure progress is happening in improving our healthcare system. And for sure still more work to be done. But this is real, measurable and tangible improvement.
The HARD WORK continues.

This is a BIG DEAL.
Alberta is NOT waiting - and credit to Premier Danielle Smith for pushing this forward when it matters most.
Friends! Over 1 million barrels a day isn’t small! It’s showing the world we are dead serious about energy security, high-paying jobs and economic growth.
This is what leadership looks like.
Bravo, Premier!
NEW: Bridger Pipeline’s proposed project for a new Canada-U.S. crude oil pipeline could transport more than one million barrels per day.
At a time of global uncertainty, it’s clear that Alberta is the answer to North America’s and the world’s energy needs.
That’s why we must build new pipelines east, west, north and south to strengthen Canada’s economy, establish North American energy dominance, and position ourselves as the world’s safest, most secure and reliable energy partner.

Access to a family doctor in Alberta is starting to improve. Here is fair comparison between the NDP era and UCP. My key takeaway is this:
It’s true that for years, too many Albertans couldn’t find one. People were searching, waiting, and often going without consistent care - and when primary care doesn’t work, the entire healthcare system feels it.
Now, more Albertans are getting connected. It’s not perfect, but it’s moving - and that matters.
Under the NDP, access largely stayed stuck.
Under the UCP, access is expanding and more people are getting connected to care.
Here’s the irony: the UCP is investing more in healthcare, and that intentional reform is starting to work. Primary care is the proof point.
This is what happens when you focus on the fundamentals: expanding access, building capacity, and bringing care closer to home.
Fewer people searching. More people getting care. Right here at home.
The data speaks for itself so you can confirm it yourself on Alberta’s Health System Dashboard.

The story I’m about to share doesn’t make the front page. Not even the 20th.
But it should.
It’s about what serious government looks like. It’s about the quiet relentless work behind the scenes that saves millions and delivers better results for the great people of this amazing province.
It’s about refusing to accept a $54 million price tag just because it’s put in front of you.
It’s about asking better questions. Challenging assumptions. Thinking differently. And finding a smarter way to deliver the same - even better - outcome.
Every dollar matters. Because it’s not government money - it’s your money as a taxpayer.
And the best part?
More of this is happening across all corners of government (I’m proud to say thanks to UCP leadership and a relentless focus on getting the best value for taxpayers).
Friends that mindset is real. I see it every day in our department. I see smart Public servants pushing harder. Leaders setting higher standards. Teams finding better ways to serve Albertans.
Huge credit to the incredible public servants behind this work. Particularly a huge shoutout to our Deputy Ministers for their steady leadership, high standards, and a culture that makes this possible.
Also personally grateful to my Minister, Minister Long for challenging us everyday to do better and be simply practical and to Minister Glubish — not just for the AI leadership, but for capturing this story so powerfully.
Proud to be part of this team. And proud to help lead more work like this.
Didn’t mean to spoil it - it’s worth the read:

Think about this for a second: She didn’t have to leave Alberta (read the Global News article).
More life-saving surgeries- done right here in Edmonton.
Not months away. Not in another province or outside the country. Right here at home.
That’s what people actually care about. And it’s NOT happening by accident.
It’s happening because Premier Smith and her UCP govt made a clear choice:
âś… Focus on results.
âś… Increase surgical capacity.
âś… Make the healthcare system deliver when people need it most.
And now we are starting to see it:
✔️Fewer families being told to go elsewhere.
✔️ Fewer people stuck waiting, not knowing what comes next.
✔️ Care closer to home.
✔️ More lives changed right here.
This is what real progress looks like.
👉 QUESTION FOR YOU: Have you or someone you know had a positive healthcare experience recently? I’d genuinely like to hear it.

Let this sink in: Over 28,000 surgeries in one month. That’s not a statistic. That’s thousands of families getting their lives back.
Under the UCP surgeries are up. And wait times are coming down.
That kind of progress didn’t just magically happen or by accident.
It comes from decisions, focus, and ex*****on of the Premier and her government.
You know people don’t care about cheap political talking points. They care about whether the healthcare system actually works for them.
This is what progress looks like. And it’s worthy highlighting it.

Sad to hear of the passing of uncle Joe Hak - a respected community leader whose impact will be felt for years to come.
He was a respected leader in so many different communities and someone who genuinely cared about people. His presence, wisdom, and generosity touched so many lives.
I am personally grateful for the encouragement and support he showed me. It meant a great deal.
Edmonton has lost a truly good man. He will be deeply missed.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family, loved ones, and all those who knew him.
