Happy Earth day! ๐ These lovely ladies are enjoying the beautiful spring grass and loving every minute of being outside! Every day we change their paddocks giving the land time to rest, recover and thrive..only to be grazed again in 4 weeks time. We do this rotational grazing for the benefit of the soil and land and for our guernsey girls health which in turn shows up in our delicious and fresh whole milk and yogurts! We hope you take some time to stop and enjoy this beautiful planet we call home and join us in striving to take good care of it โฅ๏ธ๐ฎ

Another DYI recipe from our farm to your home! We thought we would share this simple and fun soap recipe with you, for you to try and enjoy. We started making this recipe years ago as one of our children was having a terrible skin reaction from commercial soap. We use our creamy guernsey milk in this recipe as it is high in carotene which is delightful for our skin. Our Promise Valley Guernsey milk soap bars that we carry in our farm store are highly popular! So much so that is now custom making them for us. She does such a great job and we are thankful she helps us keep up with the growing demand of our soap bars!
What you will need: soap molds (Amazon) or just use a parchment paper lined 9x12!) accurate digital weight scale, plastic jug, medium and large mixing bowls, eye protection and gloves! Everything else you will probably have on hand in your kitchen.
Here is the recipe:
-32 0z olive oil
-12 oz grapeseed oil
-8 oz whole guernsey milk
-16 oz coconut oil
-10 oz distilled water
-8.9 oz Lye crystals.
~Method~
Carefully weigh olive oil in a medium bowl on scale. Once proper weight is reached pour into large bowl. Repeat process with grapeseed and milk. Whisk together.
Measure out coconut oil and add to whisked large bowl. Put plastic jug on the scale and measure distilled water. Place aside. Put on your eye protection and dish gloves! Pour lye crystals into small bowl and measure out exactly. Very carefully pour lye crystals into distilled water jug. This step is best to do outside or by a well ventilated window! Gently mix until liquid is warm and clear. With protection still on slowly pour lye solution into large bowl with remaining ingredients. With a hand blender, blend all ingredients together until mixture resembles pudding! This is called trace. Add essential oils of your choosing up to 2 tablespoons. Blend again for one minute. Pour soap batter into soap molds. This is the fun part..sprinkle flowers or swirl with a spoon to make it fun or fancy looking! Cover lightly with plastic wrap and let sit 24 hours. The next day flip solid soap out of molds and cut to whatever thickness you like. Let cure for 6 weeks. Enjoy!!

Our Udderly Smooth Hand Balm. Have you tried it yet?! We have loved the feedback from our customers on this wonderful balm that we make here at Promise Valley. It really works! Smooths dry skin, cracked lips, winter burn on your hands, and even sooths cracked heals in the summer! We thought it would be fun to share this very easy recipe with you.
1/4 cup coconut oil
2 TBSP olive oil
1 TSP calendula infused oil ( we use olive oil infusion)
1oz shea butter
1oz beeswax
1/8 vitamin E oil
12 drops tea-tree essential oil
6 drops peppermint essential oil.
Heat first 5 ingredients until melted. Take off heat. Add Vitamin E and drops. Stir until combined. Pour into 4 oz jar and let cool. It will change colour and harden. It will be ready to use the next day! Want to make more at a time? Just multiply ingredients. Donโt have the time to make it but love it? It will always be available thru our farmstore, Thurs-Sat 10-5.๐ฎ๐ผ
Funny fact about the balm..we made it first for our cows..we noticed how well it worked on our hands after using it on them so we started using it too! It has become a family favorite ever since ๐

What a year! We are so thankful for your continued support of our family and farm! This year we reached record milk and yogurt sales and grew our little herd of cattle. Our farm boundaries expanded another 10 acres as we anticipate more grazing land to be needed.
Thank you for a wonderful year! We have loved meeting new customers and getting to know our regulars a little bit more. ๐ Over this past year, we simply could not have done all of this without you and your encouragement and support.
From all of us here at Promise Valley Farm (and cute cows included)... HAPPY NEW YEAR! โบ๏ธ

It's happening this Saturday! ๐ฎ
Our annual "Moo-ey Christmas" open barn event is on from 10am-4pm. We'll have warm drinks and baked goodies for you to try, and our cute calves eagerly awaiting some delightful scratchies behind their ears. It's the perfect opportunity to thank our Guernseys for all the hard work they've put in throughout the year!
Our little farm store will also be open for you to browse our shelves for last-minute locally-made stocking stuffers, such as Christmas-themed earrings, solid lotion bars, handmade doilies, tallow makeup, candles, and more. We love supporting local in our community. ๐
It'll also be the last day to get our whole, organic milk until the 27th (when weโll be open for one day only), and then closed until we reopen on January 8. So bring your bottles and stock up on Guernsey milk! (Did you know you can freeze milk? ๐ฅ)
We're looking forward to welcoming you to the farm then! โบ๏ธ

The blankets you can find at our little farm store are made with artistry and craftsmanship from time-worn saris that tell a rich cultural history. We also have cute handmade cotton elephants with kantha (a traditional qulting technique) ears that are upcycled from soft cotton.
Stop by from Thursday-Saturday, 10am-5pm, to see and touch them for yourself. โบ๏ธ
