We must fight this together.
Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation MLA Ian Paton, and Fraser Health have worked hard to reduce the price per bed for the Long-Term Care Center, but the Minister of Infastrucutre won't tell us what per bed cost would allow the project to proceed.
As a community we have fundraised the money. We have brought the cost down per bed. We need to speak up now to fight for this project.

What a fantastic afternoon at the 116th Annual Delta Chamber of Commerce AGM! I was proud to share our State of the City address on behalf of council, highlighting key milestones from 2025 and looking ahead to exciting capital plans and investments for 2026–2027.
Fun fact: the Chamber is the same age as the Westham Island Bridge - what an incredible legacy to celebrate together!

• Deliver a fair and inclusive 2027 Capital Plan

• Deliver a replacement field for Falcons Grass Hockey Club

• Create a stronger Official Community Plan that addresses where the current one misses the mark given community feedback
• Ensure development projects are reviewed openly before decisions are made
🔹 Efficient & Transparent Development
• Streamline building permits for faster approvals
• Reintroduce Committee of the Whole for major projects - so your voice is heard early in the process
• Stop 1st, 2nd, and 3rd reading votes all in one sitting
🔹 Increase Community Involvement
• Re-establish community standing committees (Economic Development, Parks & Rec, Public Safety, Community Services, and more)
🔹 Financial Responsibility
• Freeze scheduled fee increases in 2027
• Keep property taxes among the lowest in Metro Vancouver
• Protect core services like police, fire, and emergency response
• Build more industrial land base on closed sections of the Vancouver landfill to increase the tax base and keep costs low
🔹 Strong Schools, Strong Partnerships
• Continue the strong collaboration between Council and School Board
• Ensure provincial funding stays in the classroom

Like many across Canada, I am praying for a safe re-entry for the Artemis 2 crew today and will be tuning in at 4:30pm to watch them safely arrive home. It’s a proud day for our country with Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen making history as the first Canadian to go on a mission around the moon. 🇨🇦 🌖
