Young Minds Exploring Science (YMES) is an organization that aims to provide all students with opportunities to engage in science education!

We are excited to announce that YMES participated in the 21/22 SFU Student Engagement Competition and received a SFU Student-Community Engagement Award supported by the City of Surrey! We are looking forward to working with our partners to continue our mission of empowering young scientists in our community 🧬🧪

Our students explored the world of DNA and Genes by completing a Banana DNA Extraction! Check out the mind-blowing experiment results! 🧬😎

Some highlights from our ‘Invisible World of Microbes’ lab where students swabbed different surfaces around their home and saw just how much bacteria was on it! 🦠 🧫

Our students completed a Myers Briggs personality test as a part of our Neuroscience workshop two weeks ago! We’ve created a word cloud based on 30 student results from this activity- we have ENFP in the lead with a total of 7 students receiving this result!
