Over the past few years, DFD has seen a steady increase in response calls. Combined with the SPSA Minimum Standards, it’s become more important than ever for our Department to continue steady growth by improving our training, expanding our capabilities, and upgrading the equipment we so heavily rely on to keep our community safe.

With that, we are incredibly proud to announce the approval and purchase of a brand new Rescue Truck! This has been a long-term project, well over a year in the making, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and teamwork of many people.

First, a huge thank you to all DFD members who worked tirelessly researching, planning, and designing this truck. Your commitment to ensuring we have the right tools for the job is truly appreciated. We also extend a thank you to the Fire Board for approving this very important project. Our Rescue Truck is the first out truck that responds to every single emergency call. This truck is a critical component of our response team that provides an essential service to our community and surrounding area.

We have officially placed an order for a 2026 Ford F550 Super Crew Rescue Truck from Otex Manufacturing in Delisle, SK, with delivery expected later in 2026 or early 2027.

In addition, we will be keeping our current 2006 Ford F550 Rescue Truck and converting it into a dedicated Wildland Fire Unit. A new Wildland Skid has been purchased from Otex Manufacturing to support this conversion. Together, these two projects will significantly enhance and strengthen our response capabilities across all types of emergencies.

None of this would be possible without the support of our community. The purchase of the new Rescue Truck was funded through fundraising and years of generous donations from residents, and community groups, with significant contributions from several local businesses including Panther Industries Inc, Western Sales, Cargill, and Young's Equipment Inc. Davidson as well as funds earned from our Northern Wildfire deployments this past summer. And contributions from our Fire Board Municipalities. We are deeply grateful for every contribution, big or small.

DFD members are excited and looking forward to seeing these projects come together. Thank you to everyone who continues to stand behind us as we work to better serve and protect our community and surrounding areas.
