Talbot Tuesday: a farewell post!
Please join us in wishing RVT Torie the best of luck as she takes a new step in her career at a progressive practice closer to home! Although she’ll be dearly missed we’re excited for her and can’t wait to hear all about it!

Team Talbot has exciting news!
Please join us in congratulating our very own vet assistant Carly on her acceptance into the Ontario Veterinary College class of 2030! 🥳
We wish Carly the best of luck on her studies this fall and look forward to having her back in the summers…and maybe even one day as a full fledged veterinarian!
Congratulations Carly!

Talbot Tuesday: let’s talk ultrasounds!
Ultrasonography is just one of the many diagnostic modalities we offer here at Talbot Road. Ultrasound uses sound waves to create images of body structures. It’s most often used for soft tissues and organs but can also evaluate the outer edges of bones and joints. It can also be used as a guide tool for things like joint injections or sampling from the bladder.
This silly gal partied too hard one day and ended up with a stifle injury which is actually very similar to the human knee! Check out the photos below of excess fluid or “effusion” from the initial injury compared to the recheck image of the same area. The triangle shaped structure in the first image is a meniscus! Cool!
Unfortunately, we are having to address this as there have been multiple incidents recently.
This is a reminder that Talbot Road Veterinary Services has a zero-tolerance policy for individuals who use profanity, belittle, or berate our staff in any way. We do not accept this type of behaviour, which will ultimately end up with non-clients being blacklisted from our services, current spouses of clients being banned from interacting with our practice, or current clients' accounts being terminated with no chance of reinstatement.
Our staff does their absolute best to care for all our clients and patients. When we regretfully have to say "No", or when we have to reschedule an appointment due to a critical emergency we would hope that our clients would understand that if roles were reversed and their pet was the critical one, that we would prioritize them the same way and move less critical appointments.
Our staff are not paid to be berated, belittled, or spewed profanity at. They are paid to perform their job to the best of their ability in an industry that has many challenges.
If anyone has an issue with our zero-tolerance policy, you are more than welcome to send me an email to [email protected]. We will never tolerate this type of behaviour.
Sincerely,
Eric Elver
Office Manager

Talbot Tuesday: A warm welcome!
If you've come in over the past month or so you may have met a new face around here! Please join us in welcoming Dr Sue Warren as a part time locum veterinarian in our team!
Dr. Susan Warren graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1985 and has enjoyed a long career including mixed animal practice, years with Agriculture Canada, small animal clinic and emergency medicine and laboratory animal medicine. She and her husband of 39 years enjoy spending time with their two daughters and 2 grandsons with the boys providing a great reason to visit New Brunswick. As Sue approaches retirement from practice, she has increased the time spent with her horse Penny (who happens to be a patient here at Talbot Road!)
We can't wait for everyone to meet her!

Student fun!
Today our externship student Kate (in her final year of vet school!) and university student Sam got to help out Dr Emily’s mare Tessa with one of her twice annual oral exams! Tessa is an older lady and the perfect teacher for students to work on everything from general handling to technical skills and everything in between! The Talbot Emily squared team had a great time teaching them and seeing their enthusiasm! 🦷🐴👩🏫

Talbot Tuesday: Vacation reminder!
Axis got to his destination and remembered (3 drinks in! 🤣) that he forgot to contact his mom’s doctors office to let them know his dates of travel, who has permission to make medical decisions in his absence and what budget is approved!
He wants to make sure everyone else remembers to make those arrangements for their pets (and humans!) staying home! Preparing in advance saves a lot of stress in an emergency!
Enjoy the sunshine! ☀️
