Lead is a hazardous material and neurotoxin present in our environment and everyday products. It can harm the brain, nervous system, and other organs. Knowing where it exists is the first step in preventing exposure and protecting health.
⚠️ Hazardous Materials: Protecting People and Our Environment
Materials like asbestos and lead were once commonly used in construction, but we now understand risks they pose to both human health and the environment.
🌍 Proper handling and disposal are essential to prevent contamination of our air, soil, and water.
🛑 Key measures include:
• Pre-renovation and demolition inspections
• Safe containment and dust control practices
• Certified professionals trained in hazardous material handling
• Secure transportation and disposal at approved facilities
• Air quality monitoring and environmental protection measures
By identifying hazardous materials early and disposing of them properly, we can reduce the environmental impact - helping protect workers, the public, and future generations.
Planning a renovation or demolition? Our certified technicians can inspect, sample, and identify hazardous materials to help keep your project compliant, safe and environmentally aware.
♻️🏡 Because safety isn't just a requirement - it's a responsibility.

Reducing Asbestos Exposure Starts with Prevention
- Follow the ALARA Principle (As Low As Reasonably Achievable)
- Ensure abatement workers and those handling asbestos have the required training and certification
- Complete risk assessments and exposure control plans before work begins
- Apply the Hierarchy of Controls to reduce risks at the source
- Use containment, ventilation, and air monitoring to control airborne fibres
- Apply a wetting agent (surfactant) to suppress dust and reduce fibre release during disturbance and removal activities
- Wear properly selected, inspected and fitted respiratory protection and PPE
- Properly label, contain, and dispose of asbestos-containing materials to protect workers, waste handlers, and the environment
Protecting people from asbestos exposure requires more than PPE alone. Through planning and informed management, we can collectively minimize risk while helping maintain healthier workplaces and communities. 🍃

☀️ Managing Heat Exposure in the Workplace - Be Cool, Stay Cool 💧
As temperatures rise this summer, heat can become a serious workplace hazard — especially for abatement workers in high-risk environments on the job site.
Heat exhaustion and heat stress can lead to dehydration, dizziness, fatigue, headaches, nausea, reduced concentration, and other serious health concerns like stroke if not properly managed.
When heat exposure cannot be avoided, prevention and control measures become essential:
- Schedule physically demanding work during the cooler parts of the day
- Take regular breaks in shaded or cooled areas
- Stay hydrated with plenty of water
- Use cool showers or cooling methods to help regulate body temperature
- Monitor coworkers for vital signs of heat stress or heat exhaustion
- Encourage open communication and reporting of symptoms early
Vulnerable groups, including new workers, individuals with underlying health conditions, and anyone working in high-temperature environments, may face increased risks from prolonged heat exposure.
Through awareness, safe work practices, and proactive planning, workplaces can help reduce heat-related illnesses while supporting healthier and safer working conditions for everyone. Staying cool while being safe is imperative.
