What questions do you ask when making a decision or setting a goal?
Here are four more questions to add to your process, they are called the Cartesian Coordinates or Cartesian Questions and although they may initially seem oddly repetitive each one helps you gain a new and unique insight.
By examining what would or wouldn't happen if you do or do not move forward you can become aware of possible obstacles or previously unrealised consequences, both positive and negative.
Take some time and really reflect on each of these questions for your big goal or decision.
Self care and taking care of yourself means something different to everyone and changes with time and circumstances.
To me self care is the extra stuff that fills your cup, as they say. It’s the long quiet bath, the day of frivolous shopping, the hobbies that are just for fun and pretty much anything that would be the icing on the cake of a nice day.
But there is also just taking care of yourself, it’s the essentials, I’d call this putting on your oxygen mask. Right now for me it means eating regular healthy meals, engaging in real adult conversations regularly, getting sleep (right now naps fall in this category for me), being mentally stimulated and working. It could mean seeking out support you need, exercise, some alone time or whatever else you just can’t get by without.
Often times it seems that taking care of your self and self care are lumped into the same category. Taking care of your self is the bare minimum, it’s putting on your oxygen mask so that you can stay conscious because if you pass out how can you fill your cup, how can you help the person next to you?

I can’t count the number of times I’ve hesitated to start something because it probably wouldn’t go perfectly but that just meant I didn’t start.
Now I strive to make a start, give it a go and just make changes and learn along the way. Here’s the thing nothing bad has happened because something I do is imperfect, all that’s happens is I’m now working towards my goals and getting somewhere!
