Let’s talk once again about how fundamental consistency is — in training and in everything we do.
When it comes to working with the body, positive changes are impossible without regular, patient practice.
There are no shortcuts here.
Working with the body is not just about muscles.
It is work with our nervous system, our musculoskeletal system, our connective tissues — and all of this takes time.
Flexibility doesn’t improve simply because we “stretch harder.”
Real progress happens because:
✅the nervous system gradually learns that a new range of motion is safe
✅muscles and fascia adapt slowly, changing their elasticity
✅tendons and ligaments have low blood supply, so their adaptation is naturally slower
✅posture correction requires repatterning movement habits, not forcing alignment
This process is called neuroplasticity — the ability of the nervous system to reorganize itself.
And neuroplasticity only happens through repetition and consistency.
That’s why occasional workouts don’t change the body.
But regular practice does — quietly, deeply, and sustainably.
Quick fixes?
Yes, we could straighten the spine and joints quickly —
if we used a meat tenderizer hammer.
(Just kidding 😉)
Real transformation is not dramatic.
It’s subtle, cumulative, and built session by session.
Consistency over intensity.
Patience over pressure.
Process over haste.

During one of my recent classes, I briefly started talking about how yoga asanas affect the vagus nerve.
And in that moment, I realized — this is a topic that deserves much deeper attention.
The vagus nerve is the main communication pathway between the brain and the body.
It plays a key role in how we handle stress, emotions, digestion, heart rate, and recovery.
When the vagus nerve is underactive, the body stays in “fight or flight” mode for too long.
This can show up as chronic tension, anxiety, poor sleep, fatigue, or digestive issues.
Yoga is one of the most natural ways to stimulate the vagus nerve.
Slow breathing, conscious movement, gentle spinal work, and deep relaxation activate the parasympathetic nervous system — the system responsible for calm, balance, and healing.
That’s why regular yoga practice doesn’t just change the body —
it teaches the nervous system how to relax, regulate, and recover.
Yoga is not only flexibility or strength.
It’s training your nervous system to feel safe.

Cold water immersion (without a sauna — the sensations and the state after a sauna are very different) feels like a complete reset for the whole body.
The last time I plunged into an ice hole was 4 years ago, back in Ukraine. Hooray! Now I know where I can do this in Canada too.
Many people tell me, “But it’s so cold…”
No. After the plunge, the most important thing for me is to put on a hat, warm socks, shoes, and gloves.
Everything else — the body feels an intense, deep warmth.
