The Almsgiving Hope Cinema & Performance House is hosting a screening of Common Territory: a documentary that weaves together the stories of newcomers and Indigenous peoples, exploring themes of displacement, belonging, and cultural preservation within the traditional territories of the Stó:lō peoples, known colonially as the Fraser Valley. Join us on Wednesday, February 25 from 1:30-2:30pm!

Come to the Chilliwack Library from 1:30-3:30pm on Tuesday, February 24 for a screening of a Breaking Bread episode, featuring Muhi Bakini.

Are you an artist? 🎨We are looking for visual artists, musicians, and spoken word poets that are Indigenous, Black, or People of Colour to participate in an artisan showcase on March 6th! Consider joining for an opportunity to celebrate your artwork and engage in connection, reflection, and community engagement. The Indigenous Peoples Guide is a resource to support newcomers in learning about the history of the Upper Fraser Valley and the different Indigenous peoples that have called this land home since time immemorial. This guide helps newcomers in Chilliwack learn about the first people of the traditional territories of the Ts’elxwéyeqw and Pil’alt Tribes. It aims to build understanding between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities and highlights the peoples’ rich history, diverse cultures, and contemporary realities.
