For more than 50 years, Daniel Janzen and Winnie Hallwachs have helped shape one of Costa Rica’s most ambitious conservation stories: the recovery of Guanacaste’s dry forests. This project has been a major contributor to the rebound of nature that many associate Costa Rica with today.
A new Mongabay feature explores the science, people and decades of work behind the Área de Conservación Guanacaste — including the many people who have helped turn a conservation vision into a lasting, working landscape.
Biome has supported this work for more than 15 years, including through our Parataxonomist Trust Fund, which helps sustain the local experts who protect and document ACG’s extraordinary biodiversity. It’s a powerful reminder that conservation is built over decades. And that when we invest in the people who care for these places, their work can endure for generations. Read the full story:
