ECA provincials 2026

I have been working hard on Wilmas confidence and it really paid off this weekend. She felt solid and sane and we had no major moments. Wilma struggles with riding around people specifically and has some trouble on race days going in the ring solo. This weekend she ran 2 relatively clean rounds, only slipping up where I left her stranded instead of supported. But the improvement in her demeanor in the ring was enough to celebrate. Now for her pilot to keep up ;) 😆

This young mare is really coming into herself and Im very proud of the horse she is becoming. 3 more weeks of hard work and we do it all again!

Absolutely thrilled with my runs this weekend on Lukas in ECA. As some may know he broke his pelvis early in the winter and required a LOT of stall rest and rehabilitation. But we entered and had our first run in pro this weekend and had a lot of fun.

Lukas is still quite new to the sport, so although it felt intimidating to step up into pro, my fellow competitors made me feel very welcome and I took it as an opportunity to slow things down with Lukas and focus on a tidy but slow run versus rushing my time.

I am excited to continue schooling him this summer and getting him back into shape (literally, fitness wise and filling in the atrophy from his injury)

My mare Wilma also tried her heart out for me and landed us 3rd on Saturday with a sweet run. She continues to gain confidence in the arena, and i cant wait to see how she progresses over the remainder of the season.

So fun! We are grateful to have the opportunity to raffle of this yearling filly who is in my training string right now, winner will be chosen august 1st at the provincials race and she will have had a few months training with me by then. All proceeds go directly into supplying the best events and prizes for our club!

Ive wanted to post more here, so i thought I'd write about my recent temporary intakes.

Bear Valley Rescue trusted me this month with two horses to evaluate/train/prepare for adoption.

Grizz (formerly known as PeeWee) came to me 2 weeks ago as a fearful, unhandled and very defensive stallion. A real challenge as time is of the essence to get him handled and gelded but navigating around his personality which seemed to switch from curious to defensive in seconds was a bit of a trick.

After a week of work I was able to book him into the vet for his surgery. Led him onto a trailer and had 2 vet techs and a vet handle him and sedate him with relative ease. This surgery will be life saving for Grizz, and my hopes are as his hormones settle and his testosterone lowers we will have many more breakthroughs that dont involve him being so protective of himself. Its a slow process but a necessary one so he can find connection with people and potentially find a forever home. Alongside training, with some more time he will he introduced to a healthy herd dynamic where he can learn the appropriate way to handle himself around other horses. Also, a big thanks to Alberta Veterinary Center as they were one of the only local vets who were willing to take him for castration with his minimal handling.

Cowboy came to me before going to bear valley rescue to be halter broke. Owners claimed he was 18/19 years old and never been haltered. Much to my surprise on my first session the night he came i managed to halter him and ✨️ ta-da ✨️ im a miracle worker and hes halter broke. Just kidding, Cowboy has done a fantastic job evading being haltered in his previous homes but is actually halter broke, stands tied and is rusty but foot broke as well. His teeth indicate they were correct about his age and this handsome and sweet dude would make a lovely companion horse for someone.
