Keill and Associates are back in October with their last in the "Serious Money Seminar Series". Join us at the library on Saturday, October 3rd from 10am-noon for "People at Risk". This time, they are looking for people who care for individuals living with disabilities, or cognitive decline and would like to ask questions about the difficulties they might face.
This is a great opportunity for anyone new to the situation themselves, or are trying to plan ahead for a loved one. It's a no-pressure session without sales, where they will provide lots of information and time for questions. It's free and open to anyone, but they will be accepting donations to the Lions Club of Carleton Place.
To register, please call 613-253-8934 or email [email protected] to get on the list as spaces are limited.
Don't miss out on this great session--it's the last one of the year and the perfect way to gain some insight if you or a loved one has questions.

Once again for the month of September, you'll see a memorial display outside the Carleton Place Public Library in the gardens in honour of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
This is the third year we've hosted this display which is always beautiful, heart-breaking and memorable. It was started by the mother of one of our former Teen Book Club members, Shelby D., who passed away from Leukemia a few years ago. This year, you can donate directly to "Shelby's Superheroes" on the Canadian Cancer Society website and help kids go to summer camp in 2027. Follow the QR code to donate now, or use the following link to donate: https://fundraisemyway.cancer.ca/campaigns/Shelbys-Superheroes
The display has local ties--you'll see photos and memories from children all across Canada, including Carleton Place and surrounding communities. You're welcome to add your own gold rock to the garden with their name and a photo in memory of a child dear to you. The display will be up in the gardens from September 1st to 30th.
Thank you to everyone who stops by and takes a few minutes to view the display and to those who are able to donate. Shelby was a bubbly and delightful spirit, an avid reader, and a friend to all.
Please note: if you do add a rock and photo or other items to the garden in memory of a child, please make sure to pick up your items before September 30th when they will be removed by the organizers. Thank you.
