It's September so time to start thinking about winter plans?
This winter I am once again hosting adult cross country ski camps in Canmore, with Trail Sports. Last year we got off to a great start with two successful camps!
We are hosting three camps (December, February, March) and this winter the big focus will be on ski technique improvements, fitness, and nutrition! You can do one camp, two camps, or three camps. Each camp will focus on different areas of your technique, fitness, and nutrition. All information is specific to the adult cross country skier.
December camp is almost solid out!!! and the other camps are filling up. Don't wait to register!

Hi All,
New blog post about self-acceptance. In my opinion, a 🔑 foundation for healthy self improvement.

Self-Acceptance — REMODIC While high performers have taken significant steps to improve themselves time and time again, they are not immune to the common insecurities that we all face. All athletes have struggles with self acceptance.

(Self awareness + Self acceptance) x growth mindset = 📈🚀
That's not a proper math equation 😬🤣... maybe a math wiz out in SM land could help me improve that? 😉... but here is my point.
To accelerate our growth we first need to build self awareness. We need to understand where we are NOW. A great way to build self awareness is by reflecting in a journal regularly or thoughtfully debriefing our activities (training, races, etc.).
Next, we need self acceptance to manage that knowledge. We need to love ourselves and accept ourselves wherever we are on our journey. We need to understand that we are more than enough already but out of this acceptance comes a healthy desire to seek self improvement.
When we have those two mental skills rolling, then we can cultivate a growth mindset to tackle where we want to go & who we want to be. Because nothing is fixed. You can improve anything you want in this life. But remember, growth only happens when we know and accept where we are NOW.
From what I can see, working with athletes and coaches, I think we can all lean into both self awareness and self acceptance more.
This post was inspired by a chat with on the side of the ski trail last week and then a morning run to solidify my thinking (picture from the run😉). If your looking for a positive presence in your life then give John a follow.

Remodic guest post by Hanne Güssow Thoresen
Good read for anyone who has lost that elusive "work/life" balance.
"When I hit the wall, I went through everything I had done, everything I could have done wrong, everything that had happened to me along the way, and I used a professional sport psychologist to do it. The reason for me hitting that wall was not one single incident. It was the sum of several events...."

who do you want to be — REMODIC My journey as a coach is a journey of coincidences, and of ups and downs. I had no plan of becoming a coach at all. I dreamed of becoming a vet, but my effort in high school didn’t reflect that dream.

The pressure high performance sport brings 🔽
The competitive season is approaching and with it so are those potential storm clouds - for now, appearing on the horizon, but waiting to overwhelm the sky. Like an athletes mind filled with negative thoughts after a performance that did not go their way. Or a coach feeling the pressure to have their team perform.
Both athletes and coaches deal with this regularly. For myself, this is a constant and it's very much self imposed.
Both athletes and coaches have high goals, high expectations, and all struggle with self-confidence in some way.
The question is, do we have the tools to deal with this effectively? Because coping with this is critical to long term success AND true enjoyment of the journey (which in itself is critical for long term success).
Tomorrow we will have a guest Remodic blog that shares a personal story and explores this topic further. Stay tuned 🙂

The energy failure brings is enormous.
Our goal should be to harness that energy (& emotion) in a positive direction towards improvement. We must capitalize on it.
Blog up: With the right mindset, failure is the world’s greatest catalyst for success by yours truly.

The comeback is always stronger than the setback - if we get our mindset right. 🔽
How should we react to failure? What do we do with all that disappointment, anger, emotion? 🤔
I'll explore that in my blog post tomorrow. Few stories to share... 🙂
