Riesling, with her softer merle pattern and naturally textured coat, was shaped to maintain fluid movement while controlling excess volume — allowing the pattern to remain visible without overwhelming her structure.
Scotch, finished in a clean white body with defined darker markings, was groomed with a more structured outline through the body while preserving fullness through the head — creating clarity, balance, and a polished expression.
Two distinct coat types. Two individual approaches.
Both executed with the same standard: precision, patience, and respect for the dog in front of me.
Groomed on location at Lux Pampered Paws, with the same level of technical intention and finish that defines my work at Addison Grooming Studio.
Because grooming, when done correctly, is not just about appearance — it’s about how the coat lives, moves, and maintains long after the appointment.

There’s something special about the dogs that walk into the salon with personalities bigger than the room — and this one definitely fits the bill. 💙
This handsome pup came in today looking for a fresh reset. A good bath, careful brush-out, and a tidy trim later, and you can see just how much that natural coat pattern pops. That blue eye and those merle markings are absolutely stunning, but what really stands out is that big happy smile.
Moments like this are why grooming is so much more than just a haircut. It’s about helping dogs feel comfortable, confident, and ready to take on the world again.
And judging by that tongue-out grin… I’d say he approves of his spa day.

Puppy days like this are always something special.
These little ones came in together as a group, and when puppies this young visit the salon we take extra precautions to keep them safe. For their appointment, we closed the shop to other dogs so they could explore and settle in comfortably without the stress of a busy environment and also sanitary.
Once they headed home, the entire space was thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before reopening for the rest of the day.
Moments like this are a reminder that grooming isn’t always just about haircuts sometimes it’s about creating a calm, safe space for the smallest clients to start their grooming journey the right way.
And yes… the puppy pile was just as cute in person as it looks in the photos.

✨ Cash came in for a glow-up ✨
Cash stopped by today for a fresh groom and left looking sharp and feeling even better. This handsome guy has such a fun personality and was all smiles the entire time on the table.
After a full bath, fluff dry, and tidy trim, his coat is sitting nicely again and those adorable markings really pop. Dogs like Cash remind us how much a good groom can brighten their whole day — and ours too.
Safe to say someone is feeling pretty proud of his fresh haircut 😄
Good boy, Cash!

✨ Meet Rosie ✨
Rosie stopped by for a fresh groom today over at , and she absolutely nailed her spa day.
This sweet girl has such a beautiful soft coat and the kind of happy personality that makes the whole room feel lighter. After her bath, fluff dry, and short trim, she’s looking perfectly polished but still natural and comfortable — exactly how a happy pet trim should feel.
One of the best parts of grooming dogs like Rosie is seeing their confidence come out once they’re clean, brushed out, and feeling their best. That bright smile says everything.
Good girl Rosie 💛

The Chinese Crested is one of the most unique breeds in the dog world — and the only breed where you can have two completely different coat types in the same litter.
Yes. Hairless and Powder Puff are genetically linked. Same breed. Same personality. Just two very different wardrobes.
✨ The Hairless
• Soft, exposed skin with hair on the head (crest), feet (socks), and tail (plume).
• Skin care matters just as much as coat care — think moisturizing, sun protection, and gentle bathing routines.
• Despite the name, they’re not always 100% bald. Some have fine body hair.
Fun fact: The hairless gene is dominant, but two hairless parents cannot produce only hairless puppies — Powder Puffs are always part of the equation.
☁️ The Powder Puff
• Fully coated with a long, soft, veil-like double coat.
• Silky, flowing texture that requires regular brushing to prevent matting.
• Often described as feeling like fine human hair.
Fun fact: Powder Puffs are born in hairless litters and vice versa — they are not a “separate breed,” just a coat variation.
Personality Traits (Both Varieties)
• Exceptionally people-oriented
• Clownish and playful
• Velcro-level attached to their humans
• Surprisingly athletic for a toy breed
They are elegant, sensitive little comedians — refined but full of personality.
Whether you love the sleek, striking look of the Hairless or the soft, ethereal beauty of the Powder Puff, the Chinese Crested is proof that genetics can be both fascinating and fabulous.
Would you choose bold and bare… or soft and fluffy?

Yes — I groom cats too.
And no… it’s not chaos.
Feline bathing isn’t about rushing or wrestling. It’s about calm handling, quiet confidence, and understanding how cats think.
Their skin is delicate.
Their coat is dense.
Their tolerance for stress is low.
So everything slows down.
Water temperature is precise.
Movement is controlled.
Restraint is secure but gentle.
When done correctly, a professional bath removes excess oil, loose undercoat, and dander — leaving the coat lighter, cleaner, and far more manageable at home.
Many cats actually settle beautifully when the environment is calm and the handler is steady.
It’s not dramatic.
It’s technical.
And it makes a significant difference in coat health.
Feline appointments are handled one-on-one at Addison Grooming Studio — with the same level of care and intention as every other guest.

Meet Bones.
This handsome Havanese–Shih Tzu mix is turning 13 this year — and you would never guess it by the way he carries himself.
Confident. Bright-eyed. Completely unbothered.
Today he walked into the salon like he owned the place and made fast friends with every dog in the room. Calm, social, and genuinely happy to be here — the kind of temperament that makes you smile without even realizing it.
Senior dogs hold a special place in my heart.
At this stage, grooming becomes less about trend and more about comfort, mobility, and thoughtful maintenance. Clean feet for steady steps. A manageable length that prevents matting without sacrificing softness. A tidy face so those eyes stay bright and irritation-free.
Bones handled every part of his groom with quiet trust — which says a lot about a dog who has been cared for properly throughout his life.
Thirteen years in, and still wagging, still social, still shining.
That’s good genetics, good care, and a great spirit.
Happy early birthday, Bones.

This is what true coat condition looks like.
When a coat reflects light like this — almost like a mirror — it tells a story.
A Yorkie’s coat is structurally closer to human hair than a typical double coat. It should lay flat, move fluidly, and reflect light evenly down the spine. That shine isn’t product sitting on top of the hair.
It’s alignment.
When the cuticle lies smooth and flat, light reflects cleanly. When the coat is hydrated properly, brushed correctly, and dried with intention, you get this glass-like finish.
Notice:
• The even part down the topline
• The smooth lay from root to tip
• No frizz, no puffiness, no broken texture
• A natural, fluid fall of hair
This doesn’t happen from shortcuts.
It comes from:
• Proper cleansing without stripping
• Correct conditioning to support the cuticle
• Heat control during drying
• Consistent at-home maintenance
• Using tools that align the hair — not rough it up
Shine is not cosmetic.
It is a sign that the hair shaft is healthy, the cuticle is intact, and the coat is being maintained properly between appointments.
When the structure is respected, the aesthetic follows naturally.
This is coat integrity.

When a double coat is healthy, you can see it.
In this video, the Sentinel comb moves through the coat effortlessly. The hair parts cleanly. The undercoat releases. And most importantly — air flows through it with ease.
That airflow is not just satisfying to watch.
It is essential for skin health.
A double coat has two layers for a reason:
• Guard hairs protect from weather and debris
• Undercoat regulates temperature
But when that undercoat becomes compacted, it traps heat and moisture against the skin. Over time, that can lead to:
– Hot spots
– Chronic itching
– Odour
– Dull, lifeless coat
– Heavy shedding that never fully clears
A properly maintained double coat should feel light at the root. When you part it, you should see clean, healthy skin. The comb should glide — not drag.
What you’re seeing here is the result of:
• Correct brushing technique
• Regular professional deshedding
• Proper bathing and drying
• Consistent maintenance at home
This is why coat care is never just about appearance.
Airflow = skin health.
Skin health = coat integrity.
When air can move freely through the coat, the skin can regulate temperature properly and stay balanced year-round.
This is what intentional grooming looks like.
