Never know where to start with this family.

They’re amazing.

They will always have a special place in my heart because they were one of the firsts to hire me when I went from I’m doing photography as a side hustle to I’m gonna take the scary leap and do this full time.

Their son was a baby.

A baby.

Seriously, seeing them year after year is a gift.

This is such a huge milestone. Congrats 2026 grad for all the hard work. You deserve everything good and amazing and the best party ever to celebrate 👩‍🎓

If you’re curious about the lighting for this one, we met up at 8:30am and the sun was shining bright but super low in the sky which allowed us to shoot in full sun without getting unwanted shadows (only got the good kinds of shadows). Some of the vintage looking photos are shot through a pantyhose (you read correctly) and I bumped my aperture way up to be able to slow my shutter down enough for few motion blur shots. We got all the things and she’s an absolute model 🙌

We caught the absolute tail end of the blooms which means that the ground was blanketed in pink petals for us to collect and throw in the air like magical fairy dust.

The 2 best things about having your newborn session at home:

❤️ You’re home! You don’t have to pack your family and worry about getting somewhere on time, you have unlimited snacks on hand, and can change and feed your baby as you need throughout the session.

❤️ You can customize it between lifestyle and basket photos, spending more time on whichever part you want.

You don’t have to choose between swaddled basket photos and photos of your family together at home. You can have both.

And although I often spend more time on lifestyle photos, every now and then a family asks for more studio style and I love it. Love the variety. And love that every gallery is unique to what you want.

Who came to play with their kiddos in the studio that day.

Who ask me to take photos of their families all year round.

Who carry and grow their babies for 9 months while cherishing it, but also feeling tired and uncomfortable, dealing with the discomfort because you know it’ll be all worth it.

Who work tirelessly to make sure their little ones have everything they need and know how much they are loved.

Who run on coffee, tea, Friday-glass-of-wines, vents to their best friends, runs in the park, yoga sessions, good books — just for a little while.

Who love their families more than anything in the world.

You work so hard and do everything it takes. You are amazing. You are seen. And you are loved right back.

Twice at Lake Minnewanka in the last few weeks.

Twice was the weather, light and view pure perfection.

Now my brain is thinking mini sessions in the spring at Lake Minnewanka next year.

But knowing how unpredictable spring in the mountains can be, should I or should I not?!
