The Woodcreek Community Association, in partnership with Kathy Thirsk – RE/MAX First, Play Makers Preschool, Link Insurance, and the Woodcreek Parent & Tot Group, is excited to bring the community together for this year’s Easter Egg Hunt.

Join us March 28 from 2–4 PM at the Woodcreek Community Centre for an afternoon of Easter fun!

Kids will search for eggs to collect tickets, then hop over to the Prize Redemption Tables where they can “shop” for their favourite treats and prizes, then get their faces painted, play games, do some crafts, Think of it as a little Easter Bunny marketplace! 🛍️🐣

Egg Hunt Times:
🐣 Ages 0–3: 2:30 PM
🐣 Ages 4–7: 2:45 PM
🐣 Ages 8+: 3:15 PM

The most important piece ⤵️ I model this in real life by talking out loud during tough moments or when I make a mistake. Yesterday’s example: I opened my trunk after the supermarket, and a 12-pack of seltzer rolled out. One exploded, but I still had 11 left. I said, “Whoops, my seltzers spilled out, but at least I can still drink most of them.” It’s a simple way to show my girls (and students) that mistakes and mishaps aren’t the end of the world, they’re just part of life. And honestly, it’s just as helpful for me. If I catch myself getting frustrated with life’s little moments, I use this to save myself too. For example, suppose you’re running late and hit every red light. You say, “Just great, now we’re really going to be late.” Then you pause and add, “That’s okay, at least we have a car,” or “That’s okay, it’s only a few minutes of swim.” That small recovery, switching from unfortunately to fortunately, teaches your child what flexible thinking sounds like and helps you keep things in perspective. Building block towers, molding playdough, painting and cutting. Building strong hands paves the way for confident writers. We need to let them strengthen those fingers first and that is the first step to getting them ready for writing! Let them play! Have things out in the environment that may make them curious about letters and writing and when they are showing interest, be ready to support it more.
