Our wonderful horses are not a business, but raising them is our passion.

It’s the mind of the Spanish horse, more than any other trait, that makes us such a fan of this breed.

No wonder it’s unique! The Spanish horse alone has this remarkable genetic heritage: the Jennet + the N.African Barb + the cold-blooded N. European horse + a dash of Arabian blood.

What’s a Jennet? A medieval horse indigenous to the Iberian peninsula—now extinct.

The passionate voice of a breeder in Spain .. can you imagine any other breed giving rise to such emotion? (Must be something VERY special about this horse.)

A favorite poem about the solstice and a horse:
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it q***r
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep
And miles to go before I sleep.

Robert Frost. 1922.

For people working with young horses.

I love this image...

It shows just how vulnerable the young horses’ skeleton is.

Look how long it takes for the lower jaw & poll to mature.

We put bits in young mouths & in some cases force their bodies into an outline way before their skeletons have matured.
