On Saturday, May 23, The Oladele Foundation and the African Cancer Support Group had the opportunity to speak at the Seventh-day Adventist Church about cancer care within the Black community.
The conversation focused on important topics including barriers to healthcare access, mental health stigma, caregiver burnout, and the need for culturally responsive support systems for patients and families navigating the cancer journey.
These conversations matter. Through education, awareness, and community support, we continue working toward a future where no one feels unseen or unsupported during one of the most difficult times in their life.
Grateful for the opportunity to connect, share, and continue advocating for better support within our communities. π

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing guest speakers, Dr. Tope Roberts and Dr.
Dapo Akinsipe, for joining The Oladele Foundation's "Cancer & Mental Health" session.
The conversation was powerful, informative, and deeply needed within our community. From discussing the emotional impact of cancer, caregiver support, resilience, and coping strategies, to addressing stigma and cultural barriers in the African community, your insights reminded us that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
We also appreciate the important reminder that early detection saves lives and that cancer is not a death sentence. Together, through education, support, and open conversations, we can continue to break the silence surrounding cancer and mental health.
Thank you for helping us create a safe and supportive space for healing, awareness, and hope.
