Why does one baby dive straight into the cake, while another looks at it like it’s a suspicious object?
Parents often worry:
“What if my baby doesn’t touch the cake? What if they cry?”
But at this age, babies simply don’t know what’s expected of them.
For some, cake is exciting and fun. For others, it’s a new texture, smell, environment, and a lot of attention all at once — which can feel overwhelming.
And both reactions are completely normal.
A baby’s response often reflects their personality: curious, cautious, sensitive, or playful.
That’s why the best cake smash photos aren’t always the “perfect messy moment,” but the in-between ones — curiosity, smiles, and real emotions.

What I love most about first birthday shoots is that they are about celebrating a whole year: your baby’s growth, your journey, and all those little moments. I take care of every detail, just send me your idea or theme for this session, so you can simply show up and enjoy it.
