Grief is a process and can look different from the next person. Oftentimes, we judge our feelings and compare them to others. Your experience is valid and not right or wrong. While there can be some common themes, it is a personal experience that is unique to you. Hold space for yourself without judgement.

We often have feelings, then we judge ourselves for the feeling we are experiencing. We "should" on ourselves. "I shouldn't feel this way, I should feel that way." This is layering your emotional experience with shame. Your feelings are valid. They are your truth.

Therapy isn't about finding the "right" answers, it is about discovering and exploring what's "right" for you. People are not cookie cutters, we are all unique. It is important to explore your own feelings and boundaries specific to you. Contact today to book your appointment.
Kaylie talks about the "tough love" approach to coaching (or parenting) and why this isn't sustainable for children. Have a listen in. Shame as a motivator is not sustainable. It becomes harmful and detrimental to the development of the child.

Kaylie talks about one of the common don'ts for parents, "don't project." Easier said than done. This is when we cast our own feelings onto our children. We rob them of their own opportunities to handle conflict, to challenge themselves, to work through hard things, and to build resilience. Of course this isn't the intention, but it does become the byproduct. Kaylie will talk more about this in her lunch n' learn later today. Get your ticket now!

One of the topics discussed will be about why the car ride home can feel full of emotions and reactivity with your child athlete. Each time you try to connect, it feels like you are pushing them further away. The exact opposite of what you're trying to accomplish! Kaylie will discuss this common experience and suggest some alternatives to help connect with your child athlete.
