Moving day can be really stressful for some seniors (and anyone, really!) so we offer the a la carte option to just hire us as move day managers. We make sure everything is completely packed the day before. We arrive on move day, before the movers with fresh coffee and treats. We make sure items are loaded and unloaded in the right order and we even help you unpack your essentials in your new home! All the little comfort details are handled by us. We even had one client who felt so comfortable with the process that she took herself out for lunch mid-move. Now that's a zero stress move day! 😊

One of the biggest roadblocks in downsizing is just knowing "where to start". Some of my clients have lived in their homes for over 40 years and the thought of opening up some of those closets, drawers and corners of the basement is really overwhelming. Prior to DownsizeFirst, I spent a lot of time in project management and what I learned is you apply the same thinking to most projects, regardless of size. It's all about breaking things down to manageable steps and starting to chip away at "easier" stuff to experience some early wins. Ask yourself, "what is easy for me to sort through?" - it could literally be the drawer with all your extra takeout forks and knives. 😊

We're not just talking about Christmas presents! So often we hang on to things because they were given to us - whether it be from a family member, friend or co-worker. We can't imagine donating it...we'd feel so guilty! I'm here to help you reframe that. If you truly don't like something and know you'll never use it, try to focus on just redirecting the item. Think of the person who will come across it and say "wow, I've always wanted a 20-piece dish set with clowns on it". Yes, those people exist and you want them to be excited right?! So go ahead, just "re-direct" some of those items in your house. You know the ones.
