**Clinic Announcement** 📣 due to a full on teaching schedule this fall, I’ve opened up a few Saturdays on the weeks I am out of town teaching to accommodate anyone looking for treatment. Excited to get back into the classroom and get to know the next generation of manual osteopaths!

You might be surprised to know that osteopathy can help with mental health, not just physical pain.
Through craniosacral, I work with the central nervous system which can be where emotions (e.g. anxiety/worry/depression/frustration) are stored and causing disfunction in the body.
Similarly, with visceral therapy, I’ve been seeing a lot of clients with digestive issues that are linked to the immense anxiety and stress that we’re all experiencing. Just like storing tension in your shoulders, you can store tension in your organs... especially when you’re under stress! This can lead to more than just a sore tummy, it can cause back pain, anxiety, or even fertility problems.
For more info see my latest blog post. I’m grateful I can stay open and do my part to help relieve the immense burden the pandemic has put on mental health.

Alberta’s restrictions are hard to keep up with - we are able to keep our door open this time around. We’re fortunate to be in this position and while we’re glad our services are seen as essential, we feel for those small businesses who are impacted.

A few people have asked, so I thought I'd take a moment to explain why Manual Osteopathy was shut down while similar services like physiotherapy and acupuncture were kept open. To put it simply: it's all a matter of regulation (read: rep tape).
Unfortunately, when it comes to regulating health professions, Alberta lags behind other provinces. Massage therapy, Manual Osteopathy, and Athletic Therapy had to stay closed because their professional associations have not yet achieved regulated status, despite their tireless efforts to do so.
Achieving regulated status means being included in the Health Professionals Act, and an association must jump through a lot of hoops before the government amends the Act.
All this said, I am very grateful to the organizations that lobbied and advocated for the profession, like as well as other regulated professionals. This combined effort allowed us to operate again.
I do not take it for granted that my business is open. As much as I appreciate the covid restrictions, the sad truth is that many business are left in the dust. If you’ve read this far, see my latest blog post for the rest!

Well, here we are again folks. Sad to say starting next week I won’t be able to see clients until the new year. Though I’m grateful my wonderful colleague and friend will be keeping the lights on at our clinic. I highly recommend seeing Erin if you’re in need of some balance and rest, she is a talented therapist and the world’s best listener, I’m so glad we share space & amazing clients. I will reach out to everyone who’s booked in during the shut down, you’ll be the first to know when I’m open again. Until then, take care over the holidays and keep in touch 🤗

Happy November! This month marks the start of a new chapter for me. I’m grateful for a very full schedule since getting back to work in June. Between this and teaching, starting this month I will be dedicating more time to osteo and reducing my massage hours. It’s been a wild and uncomfortable year (to say the least) and I believe now more than ever it’s important for me to step into my true calling to help rid as much pain from people’s bodies as I possibly can. Six massage appointments will be available per week, so I recommend booking ahead for massage if you can. And if you add yourself to the wait list, I’ll contact you as soon as a slot opens up. Mondays & Fridays I’ll be doing osteo only, otherwise my hours are more or less the same ☺️ Until I see you, stay safe and stay well!!

I am thrilled to announce my schedule is now open from Friday June 12 onwards! Bookings available at: unityosteo.com 😊
Though it was great to spend so much time with our little bundle, I am really looking forward to getting back to work and seeing you all!
By now I know everyone is well versed in how to prevent the spread of covid19, but I am mandated by my associations to give you a rundown on how things will go when you come to the clinic:
Masks: I’ll be wearing a surgical mask during treatments. If clients prefer to wear a mask it poses no issues for treatment, but it is not required
Clean hands: hand sanitizer will be provided to all clients upon arrival
Water: we can no longer serve water or tea, so you may want to keep a water bottle in your vehicle to hydrate after your treatment
Waiting: if you’re early for your appointment, please wait in your vehicle as our waiting room will be closed (for now)
Sanitation: rest assured I’ll be disinfecting treatment tables and all surfaces between each client
Screening: two days before your appointment, a covid19 screening questionnaire will be sent to you along with your appointment reminder
Cancellations: if you cannot make your appointment because you or a family member is feeling unwell, the late cancellation fee will be waived
