Can’t believe we’re on Season VII already! Spring / Summer 2026 cocktail rollout has begun with another insight into how some drinks get made at Magpie; started by wanting to use Orgeat, an ingredient not in as many of our drinks right now. And we haven’t had any new gin drinks in a while. So I told a staff member “I’m making a gin cocktail, what would you add to it?” And they said “Peach! A gin / peach cocktail please” and that’s where the Bully started. To make the perfect cocktail for them with a gin / peach / orgeat base idea. I think it turned out pretty great. It looks tropical but it’s more lush and rich, fruity but not in an overly sweet way. We’re also going to be using our bew drinks as our weekly features for the next little while just to help keep focus our amazing new drinks.

If you ever sat at the bar here at Magpie, you’ve probably met Fatuma, and had some great conversation, we may even have asked you to scooch over a seat or two so she could have her favourite spot. If you met her you would know why she’s a cherished regular of ours, and how sad we are to learn she’s moving away at the end of this month. This Thursday we’re doing something new and letting her be the guests selector for her going away party. She’s picking the music all night. And she’s got an amazing lineup for y’all. To celebrate her and all she’s meant to us over the years we’re also putting her favourite cocktail to drink at Magpie, a spicy margarita, on special all night. So come down, have one last drink with her, hear one last story, let’s send her off in the best way we can. Music, and happy hour, start at 5pm.
