A huge thank you to the Calgary Lilac Festival team for hosting another incredible community event on Sunday.

It was wonderful to spend the day chatting with Calgarians from all walks of life, sharing stories, answering questions, and connecting over a common goal - building a stronger, more caring community.

We're grateful to everyone who stopped by our booth, learned more about Calgary Meals on Wheels, and shared why community matters to them. These conversations remind us that Calgary is full of people who care deeply about their neighbours.

It's Seniors' Week and for 60 years, we've had the privilege of getting to know Calgary's seniors one meal, one conversation, and one doorstep visit at a time.

At Calgary Meals on Wheels, we know that connection matters just as much as a nutritious meal. That's why our volunteers deliver more than food - they deliver friendly faces, wellness checks, and moments of human connection that help seniors stay independent and feel cared for.

There are so many ways to connect this week, including free activities across the city like fitness programs, social gatherings, educational sessions, and art exhibitions that bring people together.

At one Calgary school, Tuesdays and Thursdays mean something special - hot soup day.

For many students, especially newcomers and refugees, that warm bowl of soup is something they look forward to all week. It brings comfort, nourishment, and a sense of community.

Meals like these help students focus on learning, growing, and feeling supported.
