Pastor Dave Lagore peacefully passed into eternity on Monday, June 24, 2024, at the age of 82 surrounded by his wife, Eileen, of nearly 63 years and family. Following exceptional rehabilitation from multiple strokes his physical body succumbed to a sudden infection.
Together he and Eileen had four children, 6 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
His more than 60 years of ministry was marked by an enthusiasm and energy that drew thousands of people into new levels of worship and dedication of their lives to the Lord. For nearly half of those years he pastored churches in Alberta, Canada, including Mayerthorpe, Peace River and Calgary. The final 34 years of his ministry were in Anaheim, California – two at Melodyland Christian Center with Pastor Ralph Wilkerson and then leading his own congregation of Way of Life Church, which later became Canyon Christian Center.
During his 18 years in Calgary, Calgary Christian Centre became one of the most influential churches in Canada, leading the spiritual and worship renewal of the 70’s and 80’s. A small church of one hundred became a church of thousands, with people receiving Christ in every service, water baptism every Sunday night and thousands across the western continent receiving the release of spiritual language.
He was a pioneer and visionary, seeing no limitations only possibilities and opportunities. Out of that spirit, Acts Leadership Training Centre, a three-year Bible training institute, was established, training leaders, evangelists, missionaries and pastors – many of whom are still in fruitful ministry.
Birthed from his creativity and energy was the annual Spiritual Leadership Conference, held in Banff, Alberta with leading teachers and spiritual influencers such as Pastor Jack Hayford, Judson Cornwall, Mario Murillo, Dick Mills, T.L. & Daisy Osborne, Jerry Savelle, Roy Hicks, Dick Mohrman, Tommy Barnett, Jay B. Oaks, R.W. Schambach, Bob Yandian, Jerry Cook, Jamie Buckingham and others. This conference became a “bridge-builder,” forging healthy bonds of unity among all segments of the Body of Christ.
He was also the president of the Canadian office of Charles and Frances Hunter Ministries, and assisted them in leading the California Evangelism Census of 1992 in which a national one-day, door-to-door campaign brought thousands of people to Christ.
