One gate closes, another opens.
Last week, we came together to celebrate two incredible careers and the people behind them.
Wade Caron, after 20 years with CBS Bio Platforms, and Dr. Bogdan Slominski, after an extraordinary 34 years, are beginning their well-earned retirements.
These photos capture just a few of the laughs, stories, friendships, and memories shared during their retirement celebration. While we're saying goodbye to colleagues, we're also celebrating the lasting impact they have made on our team, our customers, and the industry.
Thank you, Wade and Bogdan, for your years of tireless contributions to making a difference at the farm gate. Your dedication, expertise, and commitment have helped shape who we are today.
We wish you nothing but blue skies and open pastures in the journey ahead. Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement. You'll always be part of the CBS Bio Platforms family. π

The conversation in dairy nutrition is shifting. While maximizing butterfat used to be the primary goal, milk protein is now taking center stage which is driven by a massive consumer "protein craze" and updated producer pricing structures that highly reward protein components within Canada.
But feeding for protein is entirely different than feeding for fat. Here is how component manipulation differs in the rumen:
π§ Milk Fat is highly responsive to dietary changes, and can swing fat by up to 3.0 percentage units. Optimize fiber digestion and include rumen-protected fats (like C16 fatty acids) to influence mammary synthesis.
𧬠Milk Protein is more stubborn and highly genetic; dietary changes usually only move the needle by 0.2 to 0.6 percentage units. Itβs best to concentrate on supporting microbial protein by increasing fermentable carbohydrates (starches/sugars) and providing adequate rumen-degradable protein (RDP). The majority of milk protein is derived from amino acids formed by microbial synthesis.
What does this mean for your bottom line?
Capturing the best ROI for today's protein premium isnβt about dramatic, overnight shifts, it's going to take a long-game of maximizing dry matter intake (DMI), improving rumen efficiency, and precision energy & protein balancing. It takes time; be patient and the rumen will respond to those dietary changes to improve milk protein percentage.

Celebrating National Dairy Month
Twenty years ago, more milk π₯ π₯π₯ usually meant more cows.π π π π
Today, thanks to advances in genetics, management, and nutrition, dairy producers in both the U.S. and Canada we are producing more milk per cow than ever before. While herd sizes have remained relatively stable (or even declined in some regions) milk production continues to grow. Proving that efficiency is a staple within animal health.
π‘ Better nutrition = healthier cows, improved feed efficiency, and more milk from every bite.
π» Here's to healthier cows, smarter nutrition, and a stronger dairy industry.

Traditional formulation relies on minimal intact proteins and synthetic amino acids (AAs) for your swine diets. Transitioning to holistic nutrition means moving beyond simply replacing intact proteins with synthetic amino acids. The focus is now on maximizing nutrient utilization from complete feed ingredients to improve both swine performance and production efficiency.π·
This can happen through targeted multi-protease technology use that unlocks the nutritional value of intact proteins, improving the release of naturally occurring amino acids and functional nutrients already present within the diet. This allows producers to reduce reliance on synthetic amino acids while formulating lower crude protein diets more effectively.
By minimizing undigested protein and excess nitrogen in the gut, multi-protease help create a more balanced intestinal environment, reducing the opportunity for pathogenic bacterial growth and inflammation. The result is improved nutrient efficiency, lower ammonia output, better litter quality, and stronger overall animal resilience and profitability.π€
