Invitation To Dance

We are still buzzing from the most incredible three nights and we don't think that feeling is going away anytime soon. 🌟

Recital 2026 was something truly special. The performances, the energy in the theatre, the pride on every dancer's face as they walked off that stage. We are so honoured to have been part of creating that experience.

Watching the dancers perform is one of the greatest joys in our lives. You were all extraordinary.

Our teachers' dedication to these students shows in every single thing they do on stage.

And thank you for the flowers, the cheers, the tears, and the trust. These kids danced their hearts out and they deserved every single round of applause.

Tonight is the final performance of Recital 2026 and we are already emotional. 🥹💙

Three nights. Hundreds of dancers. Countless hours of hard work leading to this moment. Watching our students take the stage and perform with confidence, joy, and genuine artistry is one of the greatest privileges of running this studio.

To every dancer performing tonight: you have earned every second of this. Go out there and leave it all on the stage.

This one hits differently at this time of year.

Recital is behind us, summer is calling, and for some dancers the motivation to show up for those last few classes can be a little harder to find.

That's normal.
That's human.
And it's exactly when this reminder matters most.

Why did your dancer start?
Maybe it was a curiosity about movement.
Maybe it was a friend who was already going.
Maybe it was a sparkle in their eye the first time they saw someone dance and they just knew.

Whatever it was, that thing is still true. It didn't expire.

The finish line of a season is one of the most worthwhile ones to cross.
Show up for these last classes.
Be present for them.

You'll be glad you did. 💛

What a season it has been. From the very first class in April to today, we have watched our dancers grow in ways that are genuinely hard to put into words. The focus, the commitment, the friendships, the breakthroughs — all of it has been absolutely worth showing up for.

To every dancer who came to class this season: we are so proud of you. Every single one of you.

Spring Session may be done but the fun is absolutely not over. Keep an eye out this week for what's coming next 👀

It is RECITAL WEEK and we have absolutely no chill about it. 🎭✨

June 1st through 3rd, our dancers take the stage and show the world everything they have been working on. After months of classes, rehearsals, costume fittings, and one very memorable Photo Day, it all comes together this week.

Something we think about a lot as Spring Session winds down: what do our dancers actually take with them when they leave? 💛

Obviously there's the technique. The turned-out feet, the musicality, the ability to learn choreography quickly. Those things are real and they matter.

But the stuff that sticks longest is harder to measure. The ability to take a correction without falling apart. The experience of working toward something difficult over a long period of time and seeing it come together. The knowledge that nerves don't have to stop you. The habit of showing up even when you don't feel like it.

These are not dance skills.
They are life skills.
And they travel everywhere our dancers go — into classrooms, sports teams, friendships, careers.

That's what 35 years of this work has taught us.


The dancing is the vehicle.
The person they become is the destination. 💃

She started dancing at age three. She joined ITD at age six. And now she's one of our teachers. We love everything about this story. Meet Miss Ivy! 🩰💛

Miss Ivy began her journey here as a student, falling in love with acro and jazz before expanding into tap, lyrical, hip hop, and ballet. She was a member of Dance Alive for five years and thoroughly enjoyed every single moment. ITD became her second home long before it became her workplace.

Five years ago she began as a student teacher, and she has since graduated from our STEP program, earned her certification with Spectacle Blue in Aerial Assistant Teacher Training, and is CPR and first aid certified.

But what makes Miss Ivy so wonderful in the classroom isn't any single credential. It's the fact that she genuinely remembers what it felt like to be a young dancer discovering movement for the first time. She is always looking for new and creative ways to keep her students engaged and having fun because she knows firsthand how much this place can mean to a kid.

We are so glad she never left. 💙

We don't know who first said this but we feel it in our bones every single day.

Confidence in a dancer doesn't appear out of nowhere. It's built, slowly and intentionally, by teachers who see potential before the student can see it themselves. Who offers the correction with encouragement. Who remembers what it felt like to be nervous on that side of the room.

At ITD we are so incredibly lucky to have a team of teachers who believe in their students with their whole hearts. You see it in how they teach. You see it in how our dancers carry themselves. And you see it most clearly on the days when a student does something they didn't think they could do, and looks up to find their teacher already smiling.

That relationship is everything. 💛
