We often get donations of pellets/seeds and have since received these pellets in abundance - they are short dated to the end of August. We have some in our freezer and still have about 8 bags we would like to offer for a minimal donation - or - if you find yourself in a position where you really need a bag - and have no funds, we will gladly pay it forward at no cost (you will have to pick up in the NE)

Temporary foster/boarding needed.
I am reaching out in hopes we can find a potential foster/boarding for an Umbrella cockatoo. Luna was adopted years ago from us and unfortunately her mom has some medical concerns right now and is need of a temporary home for her sweet girl. It would be at minimum 3 months - could go a bit longer however.
I have a possible placement but until I hear back - I want to have a few backup plans in place.
If you think you would be able to assist please email me [email protected].
Thank you!
Good morning...
Just wanted to give a quick update on the 7 that came in on the weekend.
As you know there is concern regarding their medical so they are all together in one foster home with no other birds. We have them set up in temp cages for now and they are settling in and decompressing from their journey. Once we have the test results back we can then determine other foster arrangements - so if you have applied via messenger or text - we will reach out and have an application form done. We will also look at sourcing bigger cages for them and doing a fundraising event as they will all be needing vet care, toys etc. If you can help you can donate on our webpage - etransfer or directly to our vet :)

Sharing some happiness - my heart needs it after two losses this week..
You all remember Nugget aka Nuggie...came in almost dead - maybe 7 days old - she just celebrated her "1st" hatchday today and her mom sent us this photo.
SHE is the reason we keep going every..single..day..even through the tears - if we can save even one - what a difference that can make

The final ride....
Once again my heart has been shattered in a million pieces. Big Ricky had a stroke this morning.
I knew...I just KNEW something was wrong before I even went in the room. It was quiet - too quiet - and I didn't hear the daily "hello Ricky!" that he has greeted me with for years..
The ride to the vet felt so long - yet so short - I knew it was the final one for him - his heart condition and neurological issues dictated the outcome...
Ricky ran the flock - he was the bossiest of bossy - when he yelled at everyone to be quiet - they were - when he searched out fallen treats on the floor and told them all to move - they did - he would never hurt a single feather on any bird - but he sure liked to bluff them..
This past week he was incredibly nice to me - we had a love/hate relationship - those who know blue and golds need no explanation - we were singing again and he was doing his deep laughing - taking treats without trying to take my fingers - following me around while cleaning..showing me the best side of himself..minus the dinosaur scream he liked doing when I was 2 inches from his face..he left me with nothing but an overabundance of love and respect for him..
I am going to miss his "mom" "mom" "MOM!!!" when he hears me home from work..I am going to miss his morning greeting and I am going to miss the essence that was Ricky..he was so loved by so many..and he was larger than life within this flock..
Hug your babies a little longer - ignore that dirty cage for just a while and just marvel at the creatures you share your life with - take that extra few minutes to give just one more snuggle..we are not promised tomorrow and things can change so fast..
Ricky...you were so loved and while the first 30 yrs or so of your life were so sh*tty - the last 12 were filled with everything you could have ever wanted - except freedom..big guy..you are finally free..
Loving you forever and always..I won't say goodbye - I will say "see ya later"

As mentioned last night, we have 7 birds coming in that were abandoned and in need of help (we are located in Calgary AB) - we are asking for fosters to help us with placements. Its a huge ask and we will be 100% transparent with what they may need and medical concerns.
The linnie is in really bad shape and is scheduled to see the vet tomorrow. FULL transparency here - I am hoping its a simple infection/gout but its possible it could be psittacosis - if testing turns out to show it is - there's a high likelihood the rest of this flock may also have it or be carriers.
The linnie is the oldest at 10 - the outcome for him will depend on what the testing shows - we will need to do a full panel of tests to either rule it out or confirm diagnosis. We are looking at hundreds in vet bills - if you have any spare pocket change/coffee money you can send our way - it would be so greatly appreciated!
Fostering would be at minimum 30 days - possibly longer depending on the testing - a few may need daily meds so you should be comfortable handling the bird in order to admister them - quarantine will be the biggest thing and daily monitoring for droppings/food consumed etc etc. we can go over everything with each family individually and instructions on what to do.
There is no cost to you - we can provide all seed/pellets and vege if needed. You may need to bring the bird to a vet for us so driving is also beneficial.
We had no plans of taking in anymore until some were adopted - but this is an emergency situation and they had nowhere to go :(
Please..help us help them..
