Also yesterday, I had the honour of piping in the Board of Directors, long-serving members, and newly accredited members of the Alberta Assessors’ Association at their annual conference banquet in Calgary.

I’ve had the privilege of being part of this event a few times over the years, and it’s always a great way to start the evening—recognizing leadership, celebrating professional milestones, and honouring years of service.

Yesterday I had the privilege of performing at the April citizenship ceremony at Calgary’s Central Library, where more than 120 people officially became Canadian citizens.

It’s always an honour to be part of such a meaningful moment—welcoming new citizens while sharing a bit of Scottish heritage through the sound of the bagpipes.

I was in Canmore yesterday for a beautiful wedding at Silvertip Resort.

It was a little chilly and the snow started coming down, but it was an amazing wedding nonetheless. Congratulations to the new couple!

Two weeks ago I had the privilege of performing at another Piper’s Club hosted by the Regimental Pipes and Drums of the Calgary Highlanders.

I always enjoy playing at these wonderful evenings and especially appreciate the chance to hear so many fantastic performers.

On Saturday, January 24, I had the pleasure of playing at the inaugural Robert Burns Dinner hosted by Wood's Homes, a wonderful Calgary charity doing important work in our community.

I piped to open the evening, piped in the haggis, and played a few tunes before the main course was served. It was a warm, welcoming crowd and a really enjoyable night of music.

One guest shared something that truly made my evening, his wife, a former member of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, was particularly impressed with my playing. I was very honoured to hear that.

Thank you to everyone involved for a great night.

It was very cold in Calgary on Thursday, and my walk from the parking in the East Village to the Central Library in my kilt was definitely brisk. But it was for a wonderful occasion, another citizenship ceremony where over 100 people officially became Canadian citizens.

These ceremonies are among my favourite engagements. I’m grateful that Calgary Public Library continues to involve me, and I’m glad the sound of the bagpipes helps make the day memorable for our newest fellow Canadians.

Yesterday, I had the honour of playing the bagpipes at the Centennial Calgary Legion on Horton Road for a celebration of life.

That space brought back many memories for me, playing there on Remembrance Day over the years and practicing there with my pipe band. It brought back some emotion to return in a moment of remembrance.

It’s always a privilege to provide music in honour of a life remembered. My sincere condolences to the family and friends.

It was another amazing year playing and enjoying the music of the bagpipes with clients, with family and with friends. 2025 was a wonderful year I won’t soon forget.
