Ripples 2026 Studio Update! Pearl Taylor has completed this beautiful piece "Uncommon Friends". In her own words:
"Animal friendships often occur between species that would usually be prey and predator, driven by shared early life experiences or nurturing instincts and sometimes just by the need for companionship."
Stay tuned for more of Pearl's creations which will be available in November!

Kelly Zeeb has been busy with her Ripples 2026 botanicals project! Here she presents "Ox-eye Daisy" - "my absolute favourite "ditch w**d", the daisy! This mini painting was based on a reference photo I took while pulled over on the TransCanada Highway in Rogers Pass, BC. The ditch was just full of life after a particularly long winter!"
Stay tuned for more of Kelly's creations which will be available in November!

"I am behind on two of my years of Studio 52 projects, and this little piece is part of the 2024 project called Old Dog, New Tricks. My intent for it was to try new mediums. Watercolour is one that I am loving so much. It's so different from acrylic and it's been a challenging sometimes frustrating, sometimes rewarding venture.
This little piece was an exercise based on another artist's work and will not be for sale. It was a challenge to do because it involved wet-on-wet painting - something I definitely need more experience in. My problem is impatience and literally waiting for the paint to do it's thing and then to dry is proving to be quite challenging. I think it worked on this little piece though!"

Another amazing creation by Sharon Shuttleworth called "We Walk". In her own words:
"The paint chip prompt was Carrot. I tried painting carrots but they were too boring. All I could think about when I looked at the colour of this paint chip was the Walk for Peace that took place a couple of months ago. The concept for this little painting was from another artist's work so this one won't be for sale.
I am currently living at our little farm in our littler motorhome, on foal watch because we're expecting three babies in the next month. I did this little painting very late at night because we thought a foal was being born and I needed to do something to stay awake. No foal came, but this little piece was born!"
An amazing little masterpiece once again, Sharon! Follow us here to watch our progress on Ripples 2026!

Another mini masterpiece completed by our Sharon Shuttleworth! Here's what she had to say about "Simple Beginnings":
"In 2023, the Studio 52 group had a really unique project. We based all of our art on a collection of paint colours from Benjamin Moore. My goal was to paint whatever popped into my head first when I looked at the paint chips.
However, life got in the way. We sold our farm, moved to town, started another farming venture, and got a puppy. Not much painting has been done the last three years.
I really loved the paint chip project, though, and am determined to finish it this year. "Simple Beginnings" - The paint chips were: Butter Cookie, Dark Chocolate
This little painting took a long time to complete because I couldn't come up with an idea for my first thought, which was baking with my kids when they were little. Finally, I threw the idea of painting individual cookies out the window and came up with this, good old fashioned ingredients and utensils that result in baking memories."

Kelly Zeeb continues to explore her unique style as she works on her 2026 Ripples Project with a focus on botanicals! Here's what she has to say about one of her newest pieces for the project:
"I love the geometry of nature. The Red Pine is one of my favourite trees and it was an easy decision to begin with what I know best as I embark on this project. I plan to try to capture the beauty, geometry and character of nature in this body of work while challenging myself to "work small" on these pieces.
My hope is to have a series of little botanical depictions of plants found in Western Canada."

The Ripples project continues and Sharon Shuttleworth has been very productive so far! Here's what she has to say about one of her latest pieces, "Crazy as a Loon".
"The paint chip prompt was Skydive. All I could think about every time I looked at it was that a person had to be crazy to even contemplate jumping out of a perfectly functioning airplane!
I'm a very impatient painter and hate waiting for paint to dry, so this little piece was a challenge. I can't even count how many layers of watercolour are in it and each one involved waiting for 10 minutes for that layer to be dry so I could add the next one. It nearly drove me out of my mind! Worth it though, I think."
We agree, Sharon! It's beautiful! Check back here for more updates on our Ripples project!
