Supporting Pembina’s Prince Rupert Terminal Optimization
Pembina is advancing the optimization of its existing Prince Rupert Terminal located on Watson Island in Prince Rupert, B.C. The facility receives propane by rail, transfers it into pressurized storage spheres, and loads vessels for export to global markets.
The project will expand the terminal’s capabilities by enabling propane shipments on Midsize Gas Carriers (MGC).
A key component of the work is the installation of two additional pressurized propane storage spheres, identical to the existing tanks, providing a combined capacity of 45,000 bpd.
Rangeland’s Role:
Rangeland Engineering is supporting the project with engineering services for the integration of the new storage and associated infrastructure into the existing facility.
Scope Highlights:
• Addition and tie-in of two new pressurized spheres
• Firewater system extension for the new spheres
• Piperack extension for new piping infrastructure
• Automatic valves added to firewater lines serving rail offloading and the wharf
• Vent and drain piping tie-ins to the flare system
This optimization will enhance the Prince Rupert Terminal’s ability to support growing propane export demand while maintaining safe and efficient operations.
