Yesterday, we had the pleasure of attending the Tourism Calgary AGM where we were surprised and delighted to learn that one of the incredible people we work with was being honoured for an incredible 40 years of service.

From everyone at Checker Cabs, we want to extend our heartfelt congratulations and thanks to Sonja for four decades of dedication, leadership and commitment to Calgary's tourism industry. Sonja, congratulations on this incredible milestone and we'll be keeping an eye out for those swank cowboy boots you were presented with. We look forward to the next 40 years of seeing you.

The celebrations continued at Chamber Fest with the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. It was fantastic to connect with so many business and community leaders, strengthen relationships and celebrate the vibrant spirit that makes Calgary such a great place to live, work and visit.

Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness create the biggest moments. ❤️

Recently, our Lost and Found Department came across a wallet that had been unclaimed for quite some time. Our Lost and Found Coordinator noticed there was over $500 cash and a $50 Tim Hortons gift card tucked inside and the search began. After some impressive detective work, including finding a Google post from more than 10 years ago, they were able to connect with the customer’s sister through Messenger and reunite him with his money.

Yesterday, he stopped by with beautiful flowers and a gift card to say thank you. Such a thoughtful gesture and so appreciated.

A huge thank you also goes to our drivers who take the time to turn items in. Without them, we would never have the chance to reconnect customers with their belongings.

Tomorrow night, we are incredibly proud to cheer on one of our very own, Hardeep, who is a finalist for Best Driver at the White Hat Awards.

The White Hat Awards recognize the extraordinary people in Calgary’s tourism and hospitality industry who go above and beyond to create unforgettable experiences through compassion, professionalism, and genuine care. Every year, hundreds of nominations are submitted and interviews are conducted to recognize the individuals who truly represent the spirit of our city. Being selected as a finalist is an incredible honour and Hardeep is so deserving of this recognition.

Many of you will remember Hardeep as the Checker driver who, on a freezing cold and blustery Calgary night, helped a woman safely get to the hospital while she was in labour. Before they even arrived, a beautiful baby girl was born right there in the cab.

That story touched hearts around the world, receiving over 4 million views and bringing awareness to the kindness, compassion and humanity Calgarians are known for. But to us, it also reflected something we see every day: our drivers showing up for people when they need them most.

Hardeep, we are so proud of you and honoured to see you recognized for the incredible person and driver you are. Good luck tomorrow night. All of Checker is cheering you on. ❤️🚖
