Did you know that about 1 in 12 Canadians are affected by a rare disorder and about 80% of rare diseases are caused by genetic changes. Each disease affects only a small number of individuals, therefore the understanding and expertise may be limited and fragmented across the country.
Today is Rare DIsease Day. The purpose of rare disease day is to educate and raise awareness among health professionals, media, general public and policy makers about rare disorders in Canada. (Canadian Organization for Rare Disorders)

Today we raise awareness about childhood cancer, today is for increasing our appreciation and deepening our understanding of issues and challenges relevant to childhood cancer and the impact on children/adolescents with cancer, the survivors, their families and society as a whole. It also spotlights the need for more equitable and better access to treatment and care for all children with cancer, everywhere. -ICCD,2023
