When I was 16, living in Calgary in minus whatever, I was sleeping on friends couches as I tried to navigate where my next meal would come from. IT was the recession of 1980 and there were no jobs for someone like me.
I was frozen with a buck fifty in my pocket. I remember walking downtown, late at night almost aimlessly. My toes were burning from the cold. I contemplated if life would be better with me not in it. My will to live greater, I pushed on and with time and a few breaks, I lifted myself up.
I think about those times when life gets a little rough…will I be able to provide as my Parkinsons progresses, understanding that many Canadians are literally a few steps away from being forced out into the cold.
Fortunately, this is not me in the image but a close ai facsimile, courtesy of grok.
is a cause dear to my heart. I have spent nights volunteering in soup kitchens and you see all the good people who come across unfortunate circumstances, through no fault of their own. Coldest Night of the Year is there to help those who need it most.
Won’t you take a moment of your time to sponsor me as I embark on a small walk to do my part:

Another beautiful morning on the course. Therapy has many vessels and this is mine. Living with Parkinsons has its days and most are tolerable. I just have to remember to take the time for myself, unapologeticallyp.
On a humorous note, typing this out has its challenges as my fingers bounce on the screen, erasing characters and adding randoms back in. It can be frustrating at times but mostly, it makes me laugh.
The hardest part of living with Parkinsons is the well meaning but unsolicited pity. I consider myself lucky, all in all and dont have space for it - the pity that is.
