Canada’s energy grid depends on deliberate, coordinated work—and the Wasoqonatl Transmission Line project delivers exactly that. Spanning 160 km at 345 kV, this intertie will connect Onslow, Nova Scotia to Salisbury, New Brunswick—physically linking two provincial grids and enhancing regional resilience.
Valard is proud to be awarded this impactful project. Wasoqonatl, meaning “Keep the Lights On” in Mi’kmaq, reflects the purpose behind the work—carried out in engagement with 22 Indigenous communities and with care for the people it serves.

Valard is proud to be electrifying three major powerline projects in British Columbia.
This project supports critical infrastructure required for the expansion of Northern B.C.’s pipeline system—helping meet growing demand for natural gas across British Columbia, the Pacific Northwest, Alberta, and global LNG markets.
We recently had the privilege of hosting Indigenous partners, leaders, and community representatives for an evening of connection, conversation, and shared progress in the energy space.
It was an honour to gather with those helping shape the future of energy across Canada and to reflect on the importance of building strong relationships through meaningful projects. What we’ve learned is that how you build matters just as much as what you build.
Valard is proud to be a builder in this era, and humbled to be chosen as partners by communities. Thank you to everyone who joined us — for your trust, your partnership, and the conversations that continue to move us forward together.

No backup plan. No waiting. Valard’s remote project paramedics are right there — day one, every shift. That's not a perk. That's how we protect the people who power communities.
Thank you to every Valard paramedic who supports the safety of our teams — on site, on call, and ready to respond when and where they're needed most.
Skill, craftsmanship, and a relentless pursuit of excellence—
that’s how we win.

Two generations. One calling.
Carey Kostyk, President of Valard, and his son Pat Kostyk, PLT Journeyperson, took the stage at the Quanta Infrastructure Safety Symposium alongside Jeff Ziemba and Jeffrey Ziemba for a conversation that hit close to home — Field Perspectives: Generational Knowledge Transfer.
Moderated by Ryan Lucas, they explored topics including how to pass down values, field expertise, and hard-earned lessons from father to son?
The same last name and the same commitment to excellence.
With 45 years in the line trade, Jack has seen it all.
But while working at a previous employer, losing his mentor, friend, and a father of twin girls changed how he saw safety.
After that, the rule book wasn’t just rules. It was reasons.
Reasons to show up every day—and live our mission of eliminating life-threatening, life-altering and life-ending events.
