June is Foster a Pet Month! Foster parents are essential for shelters like ours to continue supporting every animal and helping with any situation that needs it πΎπ©·!
We are currently recruiting members for our Crisis Care Foster Network β a specialized, dedicated foster pool reserved specifically for animals entering these emergency support programs.
This is not traditional fostering.
This is crisis-response fostering.
Members of this network make the intentional choice to reserve space in their homes for urgent placements tied to real human emergencies. These fosters understand that when the call comes, a family may be in immediate crisis and an animal may need safe placement that City of Calgary β Your Local Government parents become part of a life-saving bridge between crisis and stability.
You can sign up today to be a foster parent to support people and their beloved pets when urgent situations like this happen. Join our foster program today with the link in our bio β€οΈ!

There is a spark of creativity in each of us and it is amazing to see what kids create when they come into Calgary Humane π¨!
From Creative Critters to Paws and Pixels, there are camps and clubs for kids to channel their creativity in fun and exciting ways! They can create videos, crafts, and learn about the art animals create in their own environments πΏ. We don't step away from new beginnings at Calgary Humane and we foster a place where everyone can channel their imagination to create meaningful projects at the shelter! On National Creativity Day, we hope everyone has the chance to try a new craft, practice photography, or let your innovative skills thrive π.
Our Humane Education department welcomes unique ideas and teaches kids to explore their interests and passions. We have the opportunity to win a grant for a new playground for all the kids that come to here and we would love your support π! Place your vote using the link below!

Harvey has a passion for rope toys, ear scratches, and getting adopted π!
He has been with us for 83 days after wandering into our care as a former stray. He was nervous of the shelter when he first arrived and we have gotten to watch him come out of his shell to share his happy and silly personality with everyone πΎ. Harvey is at the perfect age; he loves to go for walks, but is just as content to hangout with his favourite people and be the best office dog or movie buddy!
Harvey is a great companion and will need to be the only dog in your home, but that's okay because he will give you all you will ever need from a dog! Make an appointment today to meet this handsome boy π§‘.

Pets are family, and housing should reflect thatπΆπ !
Calgary Humane Society and the City of Calgary β Your Local Government have launched a city-wide Pet-Inclusive Housing Initiative focused on prevention, education, and collaboration. Annually, more than 500 animals are brought to Calgary Humane because they are surrendered or abandoned due to the restrictions on pet-friendly housing in the city. We have launched this campaign to bridge the gap between landlords, tenants, and their pets πΊ! Together, we can advocate for families to stay together, because it is never just your pet; They are a part of your family β€οΈ.
Our initiative includes a toolkit, practical pet agreements and screening tools, Behaviour support and educational resources, and more! Check out our website to learn more.

Vote for Calgary Humane!
We are planning to build an inclusive playground at its centre so that children and families visiting the facility can play, connect, and feel fully welcomed in the space. In 2025, our Humane Education and Outreach programs reached 26,357 people, empowering our community with knowledge to care for animals responsibly. This space will extend the organizationβs mission of compassion beyond animal care, creating an environment where every visitor can feel included, engaged, and part of the community experience.
