My favourite process when working with silk is ice dyeing. When the dye melts through the ice, onto the silk, it results in the most beautiful watercolour effect (like the pinks and lavenders pictured above)💜

A dupatta is an approximately 2.5 m piece of lightweight silk that is frequently worn as an accessory in South Asian culture. Once cut, the material can be dyed, embroidered, or embellished. It can be worn as a head covering, a shawl, across both shoulders or pinned to one. Dupattas are a versatile styling piece that quickly transform an outfit for special occasions, as well as everyday fits.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲?

Unlearning my limiting beliefs and practicing gratitude. I had a lot of subconscious beliefs that contradicted the abundance I wanted to cultivate in my life. A daily gratitude practice has allowed me to shift my perspective and see the abundance of love, money, resources etc. I already have in my life🧡

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿?

What I desire most is an art studio— my own space to create. I also want to cultivate a creative community and bring south asian women/women of colour into that space.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘅 𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝘆𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴?

To me, embracing colour is such an important part of my identity as a South Asian woman. The colours, patterns and fabrics I witnessed on my India travels with my mom were stunning. I feel as though I lost that embrace growing up in Canada but I’m making my way back and am beyond grateful to share my love of colour with all of you!

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆/𝗻𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿?

I’m grateful for a lot of things in the city, but one that sticks out to mind is diversity. There are so many different flavours, colours, and personalities in Calgary. I especially love that you get to experience different things in certain areas of the city that is completely unique to that place, this adds so much character and depth to each neighbourhood.

𝗜𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝘁?𝗪𝗵𝘆?

I am incredibly grateful for the abundance of positive energy forces in my life. I feel that I have worked incredibly hard to surround myself with meaningful and beautiful relationships that foster love and belonging!

𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿?

This last year has been a tough one, as it has been for many, I’m sure. I’m most grateful for the lesson of courage: being afraid but doing it anyway. I’m grateful for the people in my life who let me borrow their confidence so I could cultivate and step into my own. The self-trust and self-acceptance I’ve developed during this process has completely changed the way I treat myself and others.
