In May, participants of our Seeds of Change Anti-Racism training project explored Module 4: Name It to Tame It, deepening their understanding of how racism can present as hierarchies and disguise itself as phobias.
Through meaningful dialogue and reflection, participants engaged with 3 Elements of Decolonial Practice (Disrupting hierarchies, Remembering our Value and Reclaiming our Power) while examining how our assumptions, biases, and systems influence the way we relate to ourselves and others.

Our Brokers Bridge Builder (BBB) Project recently hosted a series of Focus Group Discussions in partnership with Habitus Collective. We had nearly 50 participants, including newcomers, ethnocultural community members, and natural supports, joining the conversations.
Together, we explored the barriers newcomers face when accessing settlement services and discussed ways to strengthen connections, coordination, and support across systems.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who shared their experiences, perspectives, and ideas. Your voices are helping shape more responsive and newcomer-centred supporting pathways for our communities.

We were pleased to meet with the Honourable Muhammad Yaseen, MLA for Calgary-North and Associate Minister of Multiculturalism, for a productive conversation last Friday.
The meeting provided an opportunity to learn more about the Minister's current priorities and share ActionDignity's ongoing work to advance equity, inclusion, and community well-being across Alberta. We also discussed our upcoming policy advocacy efforts focused on improving opportunities and reducing barriers for newcomers and internationally trained professionals, as well as other initiatives that support equity-deserving communities.
Strong relationships between community organizations and government are essential to creating meaningful and lasting change. We look forward to continued dialogue and collaboration in building more inclusive and equitable communities.

Too often, conversations about youth legal issues happen without youth in the room. At the Youth Justice Project, we believe meaningful change begins by listening to young people, valuing their lived experiences, and ensuring their voices shape solutions.
Last Saturday, we hosted a Community Conversation Circle (CCC) with youth from our member organization Altamas Relief and Development Foundation. The CCC created a safe, inclusive space where youth reflected on legal challenges and systemic barriers in accessing justice while proposing community-driven solutions.
We are glad to see that through restorative and equity-informed dialogue, participants strengthened legal awareness, identified barriers, and contributed recommendations to help build a more inclusive and fair youth justice system.

We were honoured to welcome representatives from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to our office yesterday for a meaningful conversation on the progress and impact of our Brokers Bridge Builder (BBB) Project.
Thank you to Director Melanie Holmgren, Assistant Director Yann Legrand, Manager Alex Racine, and Language Supervisor Kerry Morgan from the IRCC settlement team for taking the time to connect with us and learn more about the project’s early outcomes and community impact.
Our discussion highlighted the importance of community engagement, cross-sector collaboration, and systems innovation in improving access to settlement services for newcomer communities.
We are grateful for the opportunity to share the ongoing work of the BBB Project and the collective efforts toward building more inclusive and responsive support systems for newcomers.
