A good reminder about keeping an open mind.
I tell myself, be teachable.
I want my mind to grow.
Thoughts from a thousand million minds
Is more than I can know.
I tell myself, just listen,
Ask for more when I do speak.
There’s wealth in views I’ve never held
It’s wisdom that I seek.

May 28 is International World Hunger Day. A day to remember the HIDDEN in plain sight risk - the 820Million people live with chronic hunger. Further hunger kills more people annually than AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis combined.
We need to take action on hidden risk, in the world, in our companies, and in our lives (have you taken all your vaccines?).

A great example of how hearsay can skew a good investigation.
For those who like creative non-fiction, here’s my review of a book about Johannes Kepler’s mother when she was charged with witchcraft. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/8618889197

What pieces of equipment are you still using that are past their "best before date"? Time creeps by and sometimes you have to make unpopular decisions.
Congratulations to the Canadian Snowbirds on decades of exceptional performance. And all the best with the new fleet on order!

You do not need to be an ISASI member to submit a nomination, and the individual, group, or company being nominated does not need to be an ISASI member either.
Think about the people and organizations you know who have made a meaningful contribution to aviation safety — and take a moment to recognize their impact by submitting a nomination.

One of the hidden contributors to making air travel more appealing to the traveling public is the ability to purchase insurance. May 14 is "National Travel Insurance Claims Day" and is celebrated to honor this important work and every person who makes our travels safe and worry-free. Though its popularity has grown in the last 50 years... the first recorded travel insurance agency began in 1864.
Where would aviation be without travel insurance? Where would travel insurance be without the dedicated efforts of the aviation industry to reduce risk?

Airplanes and birds... don't share space well with one another - and it is a good reminder that migratory patterns are something that can be tracked and we can reduce the collissions!
Birds have their place in fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. A few examples are Wesley the Owl by Stacey O'Brien, The Birds by Daphne du Maurier, and To a Skylark by Percy Bysshe Shelley.
Safety and Security are two sides of the same coin. In one case we are all on the same team trying to prevent bad things... in the other there is an opponent trying to cause havoc.
Today is World Password Day... consider upgrading your passwords as a step towards more secure data.

A good reminder to be careful with what we say (and to closing the barn door BEFORE the horse gets out .
Words are powerful.

Despite the term "barnstormer" Besse Coleman (who died in an aircraft accident on April 30, 1926) wasn't a foolish risk taker. Like the astronauts today that recognize risk and get as much training as possible... Captain Coleman, unable to find anyone in the USA to train her for the advanced aerial stunts she would make her living executing, went back to Europe were she had obtained her international pilot's licence.
She spent "...two months in France completing an advanced course in aviation. After this, she left for the Netherlands to meet with Anthony Fokker, one of the world's most distinguished aircraft designers. She also traveled to Germany, where she visited the Fokker Corporation and received additional training from one of the company's chief pilots. She then returned to the United States to launch her career in exhibition flying." (Wiki)
That's risk management in action.
