In 2013, at the age of 42, I successfully completed my first "last chance" half marathon, finishing the 21.1km distance in 1 hour and 59 minutes.
As someone who has consistently prioritized physical fitness and activity, I was eager to test my endurance once again 12 years later.

This year, at age 54, I ran the "last chance" half marathon for a second time, achieving a personal best time of 1 hour and 44 minutes.

Notably, despite the passage of time and the associated physical changes, including the growth of a beard and grey hairs, I was able to run 15 minutes faster than my previous attempt.

This experience serves as a powerful reminder that it is never too late to adopt an active lifestyle and take proactive steps to mitigate the effects of aging, while also prioritizing injury prevention and overall enjoyment of life.

If I can do it, you can do it.
Get up and get out there. You got this.

10 years ago today is when Healthy Orange Sports Physiotherapy became a reality.

As I reflect on the past 10 years, I am filled with gratitude for your trust, support, and commitment. It has been an absolute privilege to be part of your journey toward better health and mobility.
Thank you for allowing me to do what I love each day—getting to know you, helping you heal, grow stronger, and reach your goals.

Here’s to the years we’ve shared and to many more ahead.

Another BIG thank you is to my wife, Susanne, and my kids. Their support and acceptance of the clinic being in our home was paramount in making Healthy Orange a success.

With sincere appreciation,

Anjo

To finish an active summer off, i had signed up for the Gravel Royale. A 3 day gravel race at Nipika Mountain Resort.
Apart from loving turning myself physically inside out, I also enjoy meeting like minded people, hearing the cheers from the volunteers, camping and riding in an absolutely stunning scenery. I love the Rockies.
With a few scary moments but no injuries I finished 2nd in the 50+ category and 7th overall after 3 days of racing.
Stay active, injury free and happy.
Life is beautiful!

Okay here it is, the half way point of the B&B summer job.

After initial issues related to jetlag, above 30 degrees temperatures, high humidity , the complexity of a bike repair and rental shop, a mtb clinic and a B&B working seamlessly together and the Dutch administration software.
This made the first few days a hard and steep learning curve.
Thoughts of regret certainly crossed my mind.

Now after 2 weeks I am actually enjoying hosting guests and helping out with the other parts of the business. It is satisfying and my kids are fantastic with helping me out, much more than would have given them credit for. Susanne just arrived, even more hands on deck.

Free time is still rare and I find it at random times but it is okay for now. I have found an early morning running routine and ride every now and then during the afternoon.

Another 2 weeks before I am back. Please stay out of trouble 😉 but enjoy the summer.
For any questions I am still available and can be reached by text.
Below are pictures of my friends (the owners) leaving and the B&B and images of the Netherlands (stuff we like to do).

Summer greetings,
Anjo

Summer seems finally here and i hope you all are staying active, fit and healthy with whatever it is you like to do!
I have been trying to stay fit and healthy too and of course enjoying myself outside.
Running, riding, hiking, biking.

Please stay healthy and injury free especially in the month of July.
I will be helping out a friend in The Netherlands from July 1-July 31 and therefore the clinic will be closed during that time.
Enjoy your summer.

Healthy Orange is open again.
The Western U16 Finals at Silverstar were dealt the worst weather cards possible and only a reduced and adjusted program took place.
Unfortunately, due to the tough conditions, injuries were almost inevitable.
Quinn was not impacted by any injuries and was also allowed to be the flag bearer for the Alberta delegation.
Some impressions below.

Healthy Orange will be closed from March 24-March 31.
Healthy Orange will be supporting HO athlete Quinn and the rest of the CARC U16 team at the Western Finals in Vernon BC.

Last week U16 provincials in Panorama. Beautiful weather and conditions but pretty cold. Some highs and lows for Quinn but that’s ski racing.
