What happens when you stop trying to appeal to everyone? 👀 (spoiler: it's liberating)

After years of playing it safe with neutral tones in my own branding, I finally said "screw it" and embraced my true colours. Literally. Welcome to my brand refresh – same me, just with some more personality!

🎨 Plot Twist: I'm not the beige girlie anymore.
I was hiding behind a bland black and beige palette that I thought would make me look cool and polished like everyone else I was seeing online. I also thought these neutrals wouldn't clash with my portfolio work, while everyone else's vibrant brands were doing the actual speaking. Turns out that over time, I've grown as a designer and as a person – yes they are related, go figure! Time to stop playing it safe and start showing up as ME.

👩‍🎨 Fun Fact: I'm basically an 80s art director trapped in the year 2025
While everyone's obsessing over whisper-thin serifs (no shade here), I stuck with my font that says: old money elegance meets "let's have some fun" – that's exactly the energy I want to bring to my work.

Editorial? Check. Sophistication? Double check. But also approachable enough that you'd want to grab coffee and brainstorm ideas together. I chose cool, muted blue for trust and reliability, and yellow to add some warmth and approachability which shares that I'm a genuine creative at heart.

💭 The Takeaway
With 5+ years working in the industry as a graphic designer living in Calgary, I've had the chance to collaborate with clients and organizations while figuring it all out as I go. My new colours give a bit more insight into who I am today, and the way I show up in the world. I couldn't be more excited!
