Regen Tree Service

In a big windstorm in the summer I had a call about a tree splitting in a relatively new community. The tree was maybe 15-20 years old.

Technically wasn’t even a big tree but it just goes to show how bad a codominant stem can be for your tree.

A codominant stem is where you have two or more tops growing up side by side. As a result they can have weaker attachment to the main trunk.

What you want is a one main dominant stem that just grows straight up. This increases how strong your tree is and it will reduce the chance of it snapping like this one.

Making some space for a new development in the city. Pouring foundations and excavating does not go well with large trees. With lots of new developments in Calgary, knowing how much roots you can take out of the ground will become really important.

Another privilege working for someone who had a crab apple in tight quarters. The tree just needed some touch ups because it was growing into both houses.

This is a classic example of why crossing branches need to be removed.

Branches that are too close together and make contact with each other and often start damaging one or both branches.

Pruning for a healthier tree would require generally the smaller or less damaged one to be taken out.

So this was a picture taken a few weeks ago of what things too tightly around your tree can do.

This was a stake originally meant to support this trees growth but turned into something restricting expansion of the rings.

Make sure to check your trees for anything restricting the growth because that can choke out the water supply to the canopy.

These little guys were found near Chestermere on a farm.

That is what having a lot of trees does for you. You get to see life in full abundance.

Having you get more educated on trees will not only help you make better decisions for them, but Calgary will become an even greater place to live

Trees increase quality of life not only for you, but everything around.

Knowing your tree and being able to spot things that do not look right will help increase habitat for the owls you see here.

White rot is a fungus that goes into the root system of trees (mainly poplar/aspens here).

This fungus breaks down the part of the tree that allows a tree to bend and flex; making it easy to snap.

This tree in particular was on a busy street and got blown over onto cars.

Having an arborist come take a look at your trees is a great way to prevent possible damage and keep your tree strong and healthy.
