This past Sunday we had a blast at all three sites with our performances and cookie decorating! A huge shout out to all the kids who did such a great job performing and made this Sunday so much fun!🎄

This Sunday, December 15th, will be a very special service at all of our sites! All sites will be hosting an all ages service. This means the whole family, including kids, will be a part of the service!
After the service there will be cookie decorating at all of the sites! All supplies will be provided, just bring your creativity!

All services will also host a special performance from Crossings Youth Dance.

Each site also has special events unique to that site…

Bearspaw will have kids involved in hosting, reading scripture, singing, enjoying the dance company perform to Silent Night and take to the stage to share their own two songs they’ve been working on! They will also have an opportunity to take communion with their families as part of the message.

At Bowridge both preschool and grade school kids will be performing a song or two! Grade school kids will also be putting on a special performance of the Christmas story.

Westhills will have a story book reading that relates to the sermon. Kids will also have a chance to participate in worship by helping lead the actions.

This week we had so much fun continuing in our ‘Compassion Crew’ and ‘Jesus is Born’ units! Don’t forget next week is a very special week! Stay tuned for more information 🎄

This past Sunday all sites and ages learned something about the Christmas story! Grade school continued in our Compassion Crew unit, as we learned about Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem. Kids learned that even in tasks they don’t want to do, God is with them and can use even small things for his great plan. Preschool started their Jesus is Born unit and heard the story of the angel visiting Mary.

Meet the Children’s Ministry Team!
First up we have Taya, the Children’s ministry Director of the Westhills site!

Hi my name is Taya, I was born in Edmonton and lived in a couple small towns nearby before settling in Calgary, where I’ve been attending RockPointe with my family for 17 years. After high school, I took a gap year to attend Bible school with YWAM in Malaysia, which helped my faith grow deeply personal. After returning I attended the University of Calgary, where I earned a BA in Multidisciplinary Studies with double minors in Psychology and Spanish. During my final semester, I completed a six-month independent exchange in Colombia, where I studied history and taught adult EAL classes at Externado University. It was there that I discovered the job posting for Children’s Ministry Director at RockPointe Westhills, and it has been wonderful! Not only does this role align with my goal of becoming a teacher, but also gives me so much joy to be able to share Jesus with the youngest generation! I also love how wonderfully our team works together and utilizes the unique giftings God has given us to serve the families and children of our church. 

Fun Facts: 
I love adventure and adrenaline filled sports, and even have been skydiving!
Before moving into this role, I worked as a lifeguard, swim instructor, and first aid instructor

This Sunday grade school started a new unit called ‘Compassion Crew!’ As a part of RockPointe Kids Compassion Crew kids were encouraged to exercise joy and compassion this week. We were encouraged by the greatest act of compassion, the gift of Jesus to the world. Preschool wrapped up their unit on Abraham, ending with Jacob’s dream.

This week in grade school we learned about peace and the Good Shepherd! We made some sheep to remind us that God is looking out for us, just like the Good Shepherd looks for the one sheep! 🐑 Preschool learned about Isaac’s blessing!
