Sooo… do you really know how to read a map with a compass? We tested this skill out with our cadets last weekend and made it a fun challenge for them through an Orienteering Competition! Cadets learned how to use orienteering equipment, understand control descriptions, and used compass and navigation strategies. We also added in a cool life skill of constructing, lighting, maintaining and extinguishing a fire. After all this wouldn’t you think how cool our cadets are?

“Cadets Leading Cadets” is a term used to encourage leadership within the program. A great example of a cadet leading cadets is WO1 Pels, our new Chief. In our change of command ceremony we welcome WO1 Pels to the great honour and responsibility of leading the squadron. Congratulations on your appointment and new promotion!

In Cadets it's either you show up and grasp the opportunities ORR not! get it? It's because we’re celebrating the amazing WO1 Orr. WO1 Orr is a great example of a cadet who saw their chance and took every bit of it! In her years as a cadet she participated in marksmanship, Survival camp, and received the order of St. George Medal. She served the Squadron as Chief and was a role model of leadership, passion and fun. Congratulations on your cadet career! May you have clear skies and tail winds.

In the Cadet Program one of our aims is familiarization with the CAF. It’s always a joy to hear the plans our cadets have after the program and especially when they enter into a field they will definitely excel at. Such as WO2 Salinas who has aged out of the program and is now moving forward with the CAF. Congratulations on your cadet career and beyond! May you have clear skies and tail winds.

Our March CO’s parade was a blast! Congratulations to our cadets for receiving their long-service medals, course certificates, and marksmanship badges! We also acknowledged a lot of cadets and parents for their years at 604 RCACS MOOSE by giving them a squadron coin in celebration of our birthday month.
