Through integrated programs and services, CUPS, supports Calgarians facing poverty, adversity, and trauma to create lasting change and stability.

CUPS provides integrated support in the areas of Healthcare, Basic Needs & Housing, and Family & Child services to low-income Calgarians living with the adversity of poverty and traumatic events. While our work is rooted in the science of brain development, our passion is helping people effectively address their challenges, build stability and ultimately improve overall wellbeing.

June is Pride Month across Canada and the beginning of Pride season. Here in Calgary, Pride Week takes place in 2026 from August 31 to September 6.

In honour of Pride, we’re highlighting some of the key milestones that have shaped the movement for 2SLGBTQ+ rights in Canada.

Pride honours 2SLGBTQ+ elders whose advocacy made it more possible for people to live openly, safely, and fully in community. At CUPS, that legacy is reflected in the work we do every day: creating spaces where people are met with dignity, connection, and where care is safer and more inclusive for 2SLGBTQ+ clients.

Pride is an ongoing commitment to making belonging visible, practical, and shared.

June is National Indigenous History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the rich cultures, histories, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples. It is also a time to reflect on the ongoing impacts of colonization, deepen our understanding of shared history, and commit to learning and listening in order to shape a more intentional and respectful future.

We’ve gathered a list of some of the local events and experiences happening throughout the month and on National Indigenous Peoples Day (June 21). CUPS is grateful to be participating in several of these opportunities, including the Enviros Sacred Steps MMIMB Walk and McMan Youth, Family and Community Services Association (Calgary) Treaty 7 Celebration & Cultural Showcase.

We encourage you to explore and engage with these events throughout the month! Visit https://www.cupscalgary.com/news-events/ for the full listing with details and links.

For this month’s team spotlight we’re meeting our Welcome to CUPS team!

The Welcome to CUPS team, made up of Client Navigators and Care Coordinators, provide social supports to individuals who walk into our Access Care Clinic. They help with basic needs, system navigation and connecting people with longer-term services and support.

CUPS' Director of Primary Care Services, Amy, and Team Lead of Clinical Services, Melanie, presented earlier this week at the Community Health Nurses of Canada (CHNC) 2026 Conference: Strengthening the Roots of Community Health Nursing.

They shared how CUPS has transitioned to an interdisciplinary team-based care clinic model, with early outcomes including stronger team collaboration, improved access to primary care, more integrated support, and expanded nursing confidence and leadership.

We’re proud to contribute to conversations that help shape the future of community health care!

Yesterday CUPS staff spent a meaningful and educational afternoon at where we took part in a guided walking tour to learn about the history of the land, impacts of colonialism, and significance of several monuments and public artworks. We then got to explore exhibits in the museum together.

It was a valuable afternoon of reflection, continuous learning and deepening our commitment to reconciliation.

For this month's CUPian Spotlight, meet Lea, CUPS' Payroll & Benefits Administrator!

"Hi! My name is Lea. As a Payroll & Benefits Administrator, I support the work that keeps our payroll and benefits running smoothly. My role includes payroll processing, benefits administration, maintaining employee records, and assisting with employee inquiries.

While much of it happens behind the scenes, I’m genuinely grateful for the opportunity to support colleagues who dedicate their time and efforts to serving the community every day.

I’m thankful to be part of CUPS and feel privileged to work with people who are committed to making a meaningful impact to the community we support. Their care and dedication inspire me, and it’s rewarding to know that even the small day‑to‑day tasks in my role contribute to that larger mission.

Outside of work, I like to unwind with good movies, great tv series, and the occasional escape to the Rocky Mountains."

Thank you Lea for all of the important work you do!

We’ll be at the Calgary Marathon Charity Block Party this Saturday bringing the signs, the cheers, and the fun!

Make sure to give us a wave if you’re out running the 10km or the 5km!

And if you’re taking part in the Charity Challenge, there’s still time to direct donations and raise funds for CUPS.

Every dollar helps support our community health centre to provide wrap-around support to vulnerable Calgarians.

Visit the link in our bio for more information.

See you at the marathon!
