Excited to share the latest addition to my shop: Mountain Building 1 - A 32" x 24" x 1 1/2" (80 x 60 x 3.8 cm) original acrylic abstract artwork on gallery wrapped stretched cotton canvas in portrait orientation. Part of my Molten Earth Series. This painting illustrates the birth of mountains caused by the application of heat, pressure, and movement. The processes of the deposition, erosion, intrusion, compression, folding, thrusting, and subduction are represented here in the appearance, disappearance, and morphing of bands of reds, oranges, browns, and golds.
My Molten Earth series is inspired by the natural sciences, change, and the power of the earth itself. The series seeks to explore our planet's ultimate ability to enact change independent of human agency by examining the affects that heat and energy have on geology, geography, landscapes, and meteorology.
FYI: There is another one of this series in the same size and colour pallet that I previously posted entitled Molten Cone Rising 1. Together, they are two of my favourites and are currently hanging out, one to either side of our living room fireplace/mantel.
Thanks for checking it out.
Triple thanks to everyone who posts a comment with feedback.

Fine Arts and Crafts by Anna Maria Bortolotto
I am a multi-media visual artist-creator-maker who explores and uses traditional and modern techniques to create unique and cherished handmade works. My creations include works in the book arts, fine art, jewellery and metal arts, fibre arts, with some forays into performing arts, glass work, leather craft, and mosaics. My interests continue to evolve as inspiration and opportunities guide me to explore new disciplines, media, skills, and materials.
I believe that:
◆ Creativity is essential.
◆ "Handmade" means "personal and unique", "of quality materials", and "by skilled hands".
◆ Form and function are not mutually exclusive.
◆ The imperfections in works created by hand are a vital part of what makes them personal and unique.
◆ We must not limit ourselves to the possibilities we see today, but instead, strive towards the possibilities we will discover tomorrow.
I hope that you will discover these beliefs reflected in my one-of-a-kind and limited edition fine arts and crafts, and return often to see where future explorations lead me.
All the best,
Anna Maria Bortolotto
