The way people look for community has changed. People aren't looking for institutions to join anymore; they're looking for real support and connection to community.

We partnered with regional clusters of Community of Christ - like the New England Mission Center - to refresh their brand and website, ensuring their neighbors can actually find them.

The new visual identity honors their roots while embracing a rugged, warm New England sensibility anchored in:

⚓ Affirmation
🌊 Tangible Action
🌲 Deep Connection
🕯️ Spiritual Renewal

Swipe to explore the problem they were facing, the framework we used to address it, and their beautiful new brand.

Changing a logo for 30 days is a tactic. Fostering a diverse ecosystem that thrives year-round is leading with your values.

As a queer-run agency, diversity is in our operational DNA. It’s the lens through which we spot market gaps, tell resonant stories, and build stronger businesses. We know firsthand that diversity isn't just about optics; it’s an undeniable economic driver. When diverse voices lead the creative process, the ROI speaks for itself.

Here is how we invest in the economic strength of the LGBTQ2S+ collective 365 days a year:

🌀 Circulating Wealth: We actively prioritize queer-owned vendors and LGBTQ2S+ freelancers, redirecting capital to build tangible economic power within our community. Working with the Canadian Q***r Chamber of Commerce, NGLCC - The National LGBT Chamber of Commerce, and the Alberta 2slgbtqi+ Chamber of Commerce have been a major help here!

📈 Elevating the Work: We steer our clients clear of "rainbow capitalism." Authentic representation connects with audiences on a deeper level, driving long-term brand loyalty over short-term trends.

☔ Protecting the Talent: We foster an environment where psychological safety is non-negotiable. When our team doesn't have to waste energy code-switching, 100% of that energy goes into producing brilliant, innovative work.

Pride Month is our moment to reflect and celebrate, but our dedication to uplifting the LGBTQ2S+ economy is a daily practice.

How do you put this into practice in your workplace and in the communities you belong to?

🎉 The client is thrilled;
🥹 The team is proud; and
🕺 Juan officially has his first Cottonwood project under his belt!

This afternoon we took a moment to celebrate a win! I’ve talked before about how vital it is to stop and mark these moments, and today was the perfect excuse to do just that.

Seeing Juan hit the ground running and deliver such high-quality work for our client has been a highlight for all of us.

Sharing a screenshot from our (very smiley) celebration below! 🍻

Cottonwood Founder Parker Johnson spent part of his morning reconnecting with an incredible group of Canadian Q***r/2SLGBTQI+ founders in one of the Canadian Q***r Chamber of Commerce (CQCC) Export Readiness Cohort. With participants from coast to coast, we had a great

We got right to work practicing our pitches, walking through our service offerings, and talking about the specific international markets we want to break into next.

I think the best part was the immediate sense of trust in the room. It’s not always easy to put your biggest ambitions out there, but doing it alongside a community that genuinely wants to see you win makes a huge difference.

Big thanks to Peter Hawkins for facilitating such a practical, interactive session. Very excited to continue this international growth mindset alongside this crew!

Still riding the energy from our Canadian Trade Mission to Bogotá! 🇨🇴✨

This morning, our team at Cottonwood Creative caught up with the fantastic folks at Origination to keep the momentum going from our time on the ground in Colombia.

We’re always inspired by connecting with fellow creatives who share our deep commitment to purpose-driven work. The Origination Team is doing some amazing things for their clients, finding innovative ways to weave social good right into the core services they provide.

It was a great morning of sharing ideas, exploring our shared values, and continuing the conversations we started in Bogotá. No big announcements just yet! Here’s to building global connections with agencies making a real impact! 🌍🤝

Cottonwood Creative is excited to share that Founder and Chief Strategist of Social Impact Parker Johnson has been selected as a delegate for the Canadian Business Trade Mission to Bogotá, Colombia this week (March 17–20). This mission is supported by the Canadian Q***r Chamber of Commerce (CQCC), the Government of Canada, and the Canadian Embassy in Bogotá. We are thankful for the chance to represent Canadian entrepreneurship abroad. Our hope is to make the most of it in a way that’s people-first and genuinely collaborative. 🇨🇦↔️🇨🇴

At its core, this mission is about relationship-building: connecting Canadian diverse-owned businesses with buyers, suppliers, talent, and partners in Colombia, and opening doors for collaboration that can grow over time.

For us, participating is a natural step to explore ways we can continue to scale sustainably while staying true to our mission: helping social impact organizations communicate with clarity and credibility, while drawing the circle wider to include more creative partners from more places. Our team is already distributed across Canada, the USA, and Chile, and this trip is about deepening that approach through in-person connection and stable, win-win partnerships that benefit all parties.

While we’re in Bogotá, we’re not just hoping to meet established firms—we’d love to connect with freelance creatives too. This is a people-first trip, and we’re only interested in partnerships that are mutual, fair, and genuinely win-win.

If you’re based in Colombia (or work closely with organizations there) and you’re curious about partnering (whether that’s Canadian market entry support, shared delivery, white-label collaboration, or freelance work) we’d love to connect while Parker is in Bogotá.

Happy Family Day to all our Canadian friends and loved ones!

Today we pause to celebrate the ones who raised us, the friends who found us, and the "chosen ones" who support us through it all.

Thank you for always being there!

We recognize that nothing great is built alone, and we’re so grateful for the circles of support that keep us inspired.

From our families to yours, we wish you a day filled with connection, rest, and the people who make life a little brighter.
