I was asked why even do engagement photos? Why include them in a wedding package?

I have a few reasons why I feel they’re important.

Firstly, you should get the chance to celebrate this milestone with your new fiance! It’s such a tender time and I remember just aching all over with joy to think that my best friend wanted to marry me. I love that I can recapture that feeling when I look back on those photos.

Secondly, if it’s included in your wedding package there’s a reason. It gives both you and your photographer a chance to work together before the big day and get comfortable with each other. You can see the photo style and editing and make sure you’re a good fit for each other before your wedding.

And maybe lastly, it is so nice to have beautiful photos to share with your friends and family before your wedding day. You would not believe how common it is to realize the only photos that you have together are iPhone selfies 😅 (in my case, all the early photos of my husband and I had Snapchat filters circa 2016 on them as well).

I’m a big believer in more photos together.

A little reminder for you with fall photos as one of the best times to update your family photos: I want your gallery to tell a story and I want your photos to showcase who your family is at this moment in time.

Of course we’ll get photos of everyone smiling at the camera and we’ll get a few more portrait-style, but don’t shy away from the candid photos of your kids running and exploring and playing.

This shoot came together because I had a dream. In that dream I saw every angle and every frame and the outfits and the entire set up. I’ve never had that happen before. So I called my friends and let them know that when they were ready, obviously God had let me know what their engagement photos would look like. Not a moments hesitation from these two.

I need to give the biggest shout out ever to Christian Heckle 🌻 Calgary, Alberta Farmer + Photographer 🌼 for having the most stunning backdrop for this and being my dream location in more than one way.

Needless to say, this turned out even better than I dreamt.
